Works GREAT for general aches and pains of aging.
This 5% Lidocaine cream works on ANY part of your body -- it is not just for hemorrhoids! My husband gets sharp pains and aches in his hands, arms, lower legs, and feet, mostly from aging. If he rubs in this cream right after the pain starts, it makes the pain stop in 10-12 minutes. If he lets the pain get too bad, it will dull it a bit but isn't effective at making it disappear completely without several applications. You should be aware that the ingredients in the 5.5 oz jar are DIFFERENT than the ingredients in the 6.0 oz jar. Unfortunately this webpage shows the same ingredients for both sizes and that's INCORRECT. The 5.5oz cream seems less greasy than the 6oz cream and rubs in a bit faster with less residual stickiness, so that's the size I order now. That said, both are 5% lidocaine and work equally well to alleviate general aches and pains. Both are quite thick but spread very well -- just a little goes a long way. While not quite unscented, neither is perfumed. (The only thing I can compare it to is a very mild white school glue sort of scent. But it's VERY mild -- you practically have to stick your nose into the jar to smell it.) For all practical purposes once it's on your skin it is unscented. BOTTOM LINE: It's great for localized pain relief ANYWHERE on your body. It works INSTANTLY to stop the itch of bug bites or minor burns, too! I buy the 5.5oz size at least once a month. It's the best topical product we've tried to relieve my husband's aging related aches and pains and seems to be a reasonable value for the price.

Real relief from your pain!
Man, this is great cream for when you need to calm your pain or itch down! Excellent value for your money too! When I work out too long or try to return to an earlier age, this is the cream I put on those muscles that need relief! Lidocaine is an excellent pain reducer and with 5% now, it is even better. And does it last - depending on your pain levels, this will last quite a while. I usually get 6-8 hours of relief and one of the best things, no heat! Some of you like the "heat" that those cooling creams provide - not me, I just want relief!

Great Product!
This cream is amazing!! No smell, non greasy, and strong pain reliever. Don’t be conservative when you put it on. Have a nice layer on, and it will be numb in about 30 minutes.

Works well
I purchased this to use for a tattoo on the inside of my wrist and it didn't take away all of the feeling but definitely helped with the pain! It didn't have a strong smell and was easy to apply. I put it on and then wrapped it up with Saran wrap for an hour before my appointment. Definitely worth the money

Effective Numbing Cream
I use this lidocaine cream as a topical numbing aid before certain medical procedures (diabetic related), and it works very well. It takes effect quickly, usually within a few minutes, and provides enough relief to make the process much more comfortable. The texture spreads easily, and a small amount goes a long way. The best parts are the strength, the fast acting formula, and the large tube size which makes it a good value. It’s also gentle on the skin and doesn’t cause irritation afterward. One small drawback is that it can feel slightly greasy if too much is applied, but it absorbs well after a few minutes. Overall this is a dependable and effective lidocaine cream that does exactly what it’s supposed to. I would recommend it for anyone who needs a strong, fast acting topical numbing option.

I don't think it's doing anything.
I bought this to use while micro-needling and I'm almost 100% sure that it does absolutely nothing. I recommend going another way.

The lid CAN be opened, see review. This is for topical and temporary use, Read label or review
The product has the right viscosity, and you don't need but a dab go cover a substantial area. The foil seal under the lid had enough sticking to it to cover the body, so rather than waste it I drug it over the jar lip face down to put all but a thin layer back in the jar. As others described, this was very hard to open, brute force and nonslip gloves were no help! My difficulty was that the lid was already down, and being all the way down made it impossible. Pull the lid up so that there is about a 1/8 th inch gap between the lid and the base. Work with that a bit and you will see that it does turn back an forth. The point now is NOT to press it all the way down, you already found out how that goes. With it up move it down slightly, leaving a gap between the lid and the lower jar body. Now toy with it a bit until you find the up/down sweet spot where it does un-thread [counter-clockwise] and come off. Once you remove the foil, the opening will be easier. Don't try to put the foil back or fold it over. You will find that with the foil gone in goes on and off without a lot of effort. You do want to turn it clockwise threading it back on until you feel it seat (seal). The Lidocane can evaporate, and likely so can the creme it's suspended in, so you do want to close it. Wash your hands after applying, you don't want to rub your eye, or take a pill with that lotion transferring off your hand. Lidocane is toxic, don't get it in eyes or mouth, it's topical (external only, and avoid private parts). Don't apply too much wherever you use it or apply it to a large area. If you get any rash, wash it off. This is not for repeated use. If your issue persists call your doctor. IMPORTANT: I'm NOT a doctor I'm just another untrained user. so talk with your doctor if they didn't prescribe this with instructions. Call a poison control hot line if anything other than a localized numbness occurs where you applied it, or for any other symptom. The Mayo and Cleveland Clinics have helpful info, so does the FDA.
