For mid to large file transfers I see typically 300MB/s+ even using Windows copy - see the first pic. But then I upgraded my home desktop PC, fitting NVMe devices alongside a Crucial BX500 SSD. Hmm... The first file transfers were pretty much the same, around 300MB/s+ from the SSK to the Crucial SSD. But then I did a copy from the SSK caddy to one of the internal NMVe devices... oh, my...! In the second pic, you'll see the rate at 1.8GB/s (actually it was faster initially), which is probably close to the USB 3.2 max. I'd forgotten that the transfer rate for SATA SSDs was probably the limiter... What this tells you is that the controller in the caddy has properly implemented NVMe and USB 3.2 Gen 2. One thing you will want to watch for. The NVMe drives run pretty hot, more so than USB flash drives, so it's a good idea to make sure they're in free air when you use them. The thermal pad applied to the device and the aluminium body help to get the heat away, which will help the life of the device; just be aware that yes, it really does get that warm! You place the new SSD in the adaptor and connect it via the included USB 3.1 (or C) cable to your PC, laptop, etc, then format the new SSD. I then ran a program called Paragon Hard Disk Manager which clones your old SSD. Once finished, I replaced the old SSD with the new SSD and booted up the system. It ran beautifully and looked just like my old SSD; just with more space on the SSD. All the old programs and bootups were exactly as they were before; I've had mine new SSD for a couple weeks now and have yet to notice anything different from my old SSD. I couldn't be more pleased. **Q: Are Samsung drives recognized by their file transfer program?** A: Yes. After connecting the drive through USB-c, open disk management on your windows machine and select “initialize”. The Samsung data migration software will recognize the drive and allow you to clone your existing drive. Mine was a Kingston drive in the laptop. Cloned it to a Samsung 980 evo in 15 mins. **Q: Who is the manufacturer and what is the model number of the chipset?** A: The item I just received (Apr 9, 2023) does not identify the chipset in the manual, on the packaging, or on the visible part of the 'motherboard'. You would have to disassemble the unit to view the chip. Therefore I assume it is not the popular Realtek chip as it probably would have been documented and marketed, plus the manufacturer identified it as the JMicron chip. **Q: Is this product also compatible with USB version 2.0?** A: Yes. Unless their is an unusual issue, all USB 3.0 devices are compatiable with USB 2.0 devices.
