Waltraud Hanl Baby Jasmine Goes to Grandma's So Truly Real Baby Doll by Ashton Drake

This is a collectible doll, so it probably shouldn't even be included in the "toys" section. But Amazon doesn't have a specific catagory of "collectible dolls" so it ends up with other toys. Do not buy this for a young child! This is a doll intended, basically, for display. If you just have to get it for a child, keep it put up until that child is old enough to take care of it gently. That said, this is a beautiful little African-American, award-winning doll created by Master Doll Artist Waltraud Hanl. I have this doll (not bought on Amazon) and she is perfectly gorgeous. She has the So Truly Real "skin" that Ashton Drake uses on many of their better dolls. She's cuddly and looks good in lots of outfits, but will not enjoy (or survive, probably) being dragged around by the hair, etc.

If you read the manufacturer's description, this product is not a toy. If is not designed for children; it is for display. While my daughter loves it, I would not recommend it for children. I'm not sure if it will hold up to her constant use.

Very cute, BUT BUYER BEWARE. ALL THE REALISTIC ASHTON DRAKE COLLECTABLE BABY DOLLS ARE HEAVILY SCENTED. SO are:AMERICAN GIRL and FISHER PRICE BABY DOLLS. I tried repeatedly to get information from Ashton Drake(makers and primary sellers) of these dolls. I was told the vinyl is scented "with baby powder" Not so, not possible. I pretty certain that talc and the other ingredient in baby powder are not combined with the vinyl when molds are poured. Most likely scented with "scent wafer" in certain parts of the doll body. But other say that the vinyl does contain the scent. If I was sure of the presence of scent wafer, I would have already performed wafer removal surgery on 4 dolls. If you have chemical sensitivities, allergies, asthma, COPD, etc....these dolls must be avoided. You can visit: [...], or, [...]. Please know, that the scent cannot be remediated, as far as I know. BUY AT YOUR RISK, AND THAT OF YOUR CHILDREN. Please also know that I have now been researching this for quiet a while, and now have 4 beautiful dolls sitting in boxes filled with baking soda, I will then try activated charcoal, as recommended by the Bradford exchange(they also sell Ashton Drake Dolls). After that....who knows. Even if you are you child do not have sensitivities, the volatile organic compounds in vinyl alone can be disruptive to the endocrine system, and can create overall immune problems.I now know more than I ever wanted to about this.
