The primary purpose of the Enviro Shower Filters is to remove chlorine. If your well is treated with chlorine, you will see the same benefits from the filter as someone who has municipal water. As untreated well water can contain bacteria and microorganisms, a different option for filtering your shower/bath water is recommended. How does KDF work? KDF works through a process called oxidation reduction. As the water passes over the KDF, the KDF changes the molecular structure of the chlorine via an electro-chemical reaction in which electrons are transferred between molecules. This results in an inert zinc chloride, which is harmless. It can also remove up to 99% of water-soluble lead, mercury, nickel, chromium, and other dissolved metals. What does the crystal quartz do? Crystal quartz is a natural water softener. It acts as a mechanical surfactant, allowing for more and better lathering. Suggested Use: Premium Shower Filter - Installation and Operation Unscrew and remove the existing shower head from the shower arm (1/2 in. pipe). To minimize water drips, wrap the included teflon tape around the shower arm and the filter (optional). Screw the Premium Shower Filter onto the shower arm and screw the shower head onto the Shower Filter. Hand Tighten Only- over-tightening can crack the filter housing. The Premium Shower Filter is now ready for use. Simply turn on the water as usual. The very first time the Shower Filter is used, the water may take a minute or so to flow through. Whenever the Premium Shower Filter is opened to replace the cartridge, the o-rings there to keep the filter from leaking should be properly seated in their channels, and rubbed with petroleum jelly to keep them supple. Petroleum jelly can also be used on the threads of the housing.
