what I needed
the water line to my frig's ice machine developed a leak and I needed a 1/4" compression fitting. I discovered that these are not readily available in town so I ordered them. They came with brass ferrules which are not conducive for fixing plastic water lines. Tighten that puppy up and you are just replacing one leak with another one. I ended up ordering plastic ferrules and a kit of brass insert sleeves to complete the repair. Not at all sorry about this purchase because I can see me making repairs to the copper line to my chiller so they will not go to waste. This was a great addition to my tool kit.

Worked great - 2001 F150
I had the front right brake line rust thru in one small spot near the starter. I tried to buy a new replacement but it is no longer available so I repaired it using this compression fitting. I cut out the 1/4 inch bad portion of the line and installed this and after bleeding truck is good to go.Most other lines have been replaced already. Hopefully this will be the last problem for a while. After removing brake line from support clips I had to use this tubing cutter to get in to the tight spot:RIDGID 32975 Model 103 Close Quarters Tubing Cutter, 1/8-inch to 5/8-inch Tube Cutter

Not a good fit
Used on copper pipe, when I placed on pipe there was a little wobble, did not fit snug. I had trouble stopping leak. Had to replace or tape to get leak to stop.

These were used to join in new brake lines where the city salt mix had corroded some sections of brake lines.

ID for pipe and OD for tubing.
II bought these for copper 1/2" copper water pipe, forgetting that tubing is measured OD. So they are too small for the copper pipe which is 1/2" ID and app 5/8" OD. I kept them as I might have a use in the future.
