This high-quality boat gel coating contains a premium grade ISO NPG polyester resin that is more durable than orthopedic resins, and is preferred in boat construction and as a boat gel repair kit due to increased strength, flexibility and resistance to water, weather and chemicals. Gel coatings are available without wax for use in layups, and with wax for finishing. The 2% MEKP catalyst is the best, but in cooler conditions, it adds up to 3% MEKP. In warmer conditions or for longer working time, add 1% MEKP. The cured gel can be unwaxed, wet sanded and polished for a high gloss protective finish. The wax free gel is used for the initial layer of a layup, but for a cure without pills, mix a paraffin wax additive (sold separately) at a rate of 20 drops per ounce of wax free gel (400g wax free gel = 1/4g wax additive, 950g wax free gel = 1-2 0.2 9 oz of wax additive and 1 liter. wax free gelcoat = 55-4 oz wax additive). The advantage of no waz is you can come back hours or even the next day and add additional coats.
