Ultimate Board Game Collection - PlayStation 2

I bought this game as a gift for my parents as they only have an antiquated PS2 system from years ago.The variety of games, and surprisingly the word games were incredibly appealing to them. My Mother described her husband a getting up early just to play it before heading out for the day months after Christmas and she liked to play as well in the evenings. My Tween Niece and single digit age nephew also like to play it, spending time with something a little different but still a game at Grandma's house. A serious hit as a 'familky' gift.If you and yours have a PS2 and are perhaps not the hardcore gamer, or looking for a family or kids gift, and are looking outside the traditional fare of shooters, fighters and RPGs then pick this up its a solid old game.

Needed to know what games were on on the disc. What the level the games could be played at, so somone new at game could learn to play

I was so excited when I received this game because I remember playing all of these as a kid. However, when I began to play the games I was very disappointed... First of all it took forever for the disc to load up and when it finally did the games were not very user friendly. My favorite game (chinese checkers) which is why I purchased this game in the first place, was very difficult to play. The curser light keeps flashing but you have no control over how many times you move your piece, and when you finally get your piece to move it moves once and then the other players play so fast your completely lost! My second favorite game is mancala which was an absolute mess! The pieces move around the board so fast you have no idea what is going on! Also, the music is terrible, I actually had to shut it off because it was annoying. After being irritated that I could not enjoy either of my favorite games, I played quatro and enigma a couple of times then got bored. I was expecting this game to be like "hoyle board games" (for pc not ps2) which is AMAZING!!!!! Graphics, user friendly great music, this is NOTING like that :-( If it did not cost more in shipping then the actual game I would return it. Now it will just sit in the box and collect dust. Don't waste your money, your better off going to "toys r us" and purchasing the actual board game, in my opinion.

Games are just plain cumbersome and not that much fun. The rules aren't obvious. We haven't been able to figure out how to take back a move in some games for example. The help section doesn't cover enough. The graphics are nice in some games though.

I really enjoy this game. I have purchased it quite a few times over the years. (Due to the fact that eventually the disc will start to read "No Data On Disc" And I can't get it to play anymore. It's really weird, not sure why it does that. But, I absolutely love it. Really really fun!! I recommend this game highly. Good times :)

I was expecting the graphics of this product to be a little better then Atari, since it was listed as a play station 2 game. (not the latest console) but is much better then Atari. However the graphics in this game looked a little ole school. It reminds me of those mini games that use to come on floppy disk. Waste of money if you are looking for something to enjoy for hours. I played a few games, but got bored of the tired looking graphics and threw the game in the box with other dull and boring games.Special Hint - my play station 2 is connected to a 50 inch samsung tv, with hdmi with settings of 1080 and this didn't help the graphics.

It's difficult to take multiple boxes of your favorite board games with you when you travel. The pieces get lost, especially the dice, and someone always drops the box and scatters everything . . . at least once. Taking this and the PlayStation 2 on trips is much easier. We've found this an excellent addition to our collection of games and great for those rainy days when you can't go outside.

backgammon and mahjong I play all the time. not as fun as playing with a real person but these games are fun no matter what
