A must have reference,
This is a must have reference, I have just about every major "encyclopedia" put out on bodybuilding/weight training, all bought recently, and I also suggest getting Bill Pearls' "Getting Stronger" with this book like I did, I wished I had this encyclopedia over twenty years ago when I just dabbled in lifting weights with a cheap 110 pound weight set with dumbells and a barbell bar, for more size and muscle tone, casually and sporadically, and trying to do it self taught and at home, I now have this invaluable book, and determination to get bigger and stronger, more than ever before. I bought the other Bill Pearl book, "Getting Stronger", and I believe these are the best manuals out there on the proper approach to diet, exercise, and weight training, and already I have started training the proper way for the results I desire, quicker and safer than I have ever trained before. Now I do know from reading this book that I don't need to devote many hours per day lifting weights more than I have to, or overtraining certain areas going at it for too many hours, along with getting rid of that lift till exhaustion misconception.I am already gaining more size, I learned I have one of those body types that puts on muscle mass fast, but I of course always have to fight putting on fat, which is just another reason to lift weights, cause its great exercise, apart from my cycling. There is even advice for healthy thinking in this book. As soon as I read through all my new books thoroughly, I'll get the Bill Pearl autobiography for sure.Apart from that, I am encouraged by the techniques highlighting dumbell and barbell "free weights" usage, especially considering Bill Pearl states in this book that he preferred dumbell and barbell training, along with how free weights trained you to have more balance, etc.

That I received what I was expecting in a timely manner .
I have replaced this great book by Mr. Bill Pearl that was stolen from me ; I am glad I was able to have it replaced . Even though I have plenty knowledge and experience on body building , which I acquired from Mr. Bill Pearl years ago , I feel more at peace to see this book next to my other great books on my book shelf . Keys to Inner Universe is the Bible of Body Building . Thanks

A must have book for weightlifters. Give detailed instruction for proper form and breathing for all various known lifts. I would purchase again and encourage any weightlifter, especially novice to all purchase. Experienced lifters might well review the lifts they do to ensure proper form etc is being used.

Choices
Didn’t know this book was that BIG...I originally purchased this book for my iPhone...some of the pictures were missing...I originally saw the smaller version at Barnes N Noble many years ago...I didn’t buy it...until I later realized who wrote this book and what...it was all about.... I bought it!...the book is hands down the best written...goes into great detail on MANY different exercises...more exercises than I can count. I’m 40 years old and I’m starting to do more full body exercise routines....this book will definitely help choose different exercises...to add more verity when doing full body routines, gets boring when do the same routine over and over...this book changes that..you have a LOTS of choices in exercises...I definitely recommend this book for someone wanting something different.

loaded with information
I am a personal trainer and purchased a copy of this book 7 years ago for my own reference source. I recently purchased another copy to give as a gift to someone. I have found this book to be an excellent resource when looking for different exercises to challenge myself and my clients. It gives very good details on how to perform the exercises and also labels them as beginner, intermediate and advanced. This is a great book to have if you are a beginner in weight-lifting or a seasoned weight-lifter.

Never bored in the gym
The bible of weight lifting. More exercises than there is time in the day. You will never be bored in the gym with so many new things to try. I blow a lot of people away with the variety of my exercise routine. Illustrations are very good and the layout of the book works for me. Amazing to think Bill Pearl got so big and so good as a vegetarian! Always remember, muscles are not built in the gym, but in the kitchen.

Comprehensive Reference
An excellent reference, but I think Pearl's later "Getting Stronger" book is actually better organized, laid out, and written. I had seen this book quite a few years ago but did not recall the brown-line (rather than black-line) drawings and print. I also did not recall how thick this softcover book is--difficult to keep it open to a page while using it.

greatness is within
Bill Pearl inspires and give practical advice for those brave enough to push their limits and pack on the hard muscle. Pearl made it to the top despite swimming against the tide of convention (champion bodybuilders cannot be vegetarian, for example)There are good tips and detailed sections on training, exercises, and diet. Worth twice the price.
