How does this compare to Kadoya Sesame Oil? Thanks!

Kadoya sesame oil is more fragrant and nuttier tasting than LaTourangelle's. La Tourangelle's sesame oil used to taste much like Kadoya's a few years back, and I enjoyed the better pricing of La Tourangelle, but when I bought a new bottle, I've noticed distinct flavor change. I looked at the bottle, and they now source their oil from Mexico in addition to Japan. I don't have anything against Mexican sesame, but the flavor is not what it used to be. It's definitely lighter tasting, less aromatic. I need to use more oil to get the flavor I want into dishes, and still not the same.

Does this product need to be refrigerated? Most bottles of sesame oil have a note on the label to be refrigerated.

The La Tourangelle company website says to refrigerate after opening. Unopened, it has a shelf life of 24 months. After opening, it is best used within 6 months. Also, the company says that it paired with a Japanese company that uses a 270 year old traditional method of crafting. Sounds a lot like the Kadoya brand to me, but maybe not.

What the Smoke point of the la Tourangelle sesame oil?? Is it a cold-pressed oil?

You would have to go to the La Tourangelle website for that info. I don't fry with it, I saute asparagus or other veggies with it and unbreaded chicken tenders.
