Impressive sword for the price
This is a very impressive sword. I collect swords since childhood, and have a collection of all manner from stainless steel, carbon steel, damscus steel. I have katanas, rapiers, short and long swords or all types and styles. This has become my favorite all around sword overall. No wonder the gladius style sword is one of the most remarkable in all of history. This sword is sturdy. The blade is a hardened carbon steel with a razor sharp edge. The tang is a full tang, not a rat tail or welded tang, but a direct extension from the blade through the handle. Obviously it is a narrow tang due to the width of the blade meeting the handle, but it is not welded and a single steel piece all the way through. The handle is sturdy wood, excellent construction and solid. All of the metal work is of the same carbon steel as the blade, so this sword has heft! This blade could certainly stand up to actual battle use, but it will cause serious damage, so be careful! This sword is a definite buy for any serious sword collector or user. Functional but beautiful enough to hang on a wall.

Good price for this type of sword on a budget
I am bit of a history buff but on a tight budget. For the price of the sword it is good. Love the patterning of Damascus too. Decent scabbard/sheath too made out of what I believe to be leather. Sword is definitely sharp. My only worry at the time initially was that I had received a non working tracking number for DHL initially (never showed as active) After contact with the seller, I did receive a working tracking from the seller through Amazon Logistics.

Damaskus or not Damaskus
I've been a huge fan of Damaskus blades for years and recently started binging Forged in Fire. With that said, that does not make me an expert on Damaskus. I did dig deeper and learned some of the tell-tail signs of faked Damaskus. Without an acid to re-etch a polished portion of the Damaskus pattern and raise the carbon steel folds again, there is little that can be done to tell conclusively. I can say that the folds do continue through the ricasso to the guard. Otherwise, checking if the blade is really full tang, or that the layering travels down the lengthe of the "promised" full tang is impossible as the guard, handle and pommel are all pressed together with epoxy and I'm not willing to risk destroying the assembly to take it apart. Edit, just watched ABS MS Royer destroy a Pakistan Damaskus, $35 Damaskus" full tang" blade, to see what was what. The tang was actually less than an inch in front of the pommel with a three inch mild steel all thread welded between two very short tangs at the blade and pommel. That is no statement on this blade other than the fact that both are slathered with Epoxy and in order to properly check, I would have to void any warranty. So, if you ain't lyin, you shouldn't present a sword that makes it look like you are. Just sayin. The blood groves, while they were clearly hand ground, do not track entirely straight. So, an angle grinder was used for the feature and could have easily been remedied with a jig but does lend to the boast of "hand made". Now the +'s. It has good weight in the hand and the finish is perfect. The handle fits well in the hand and is easy to swing. It is very straight and only has a very slight raise on one side of the secondary edge bevel and a very minor chip in the edge (easily remedied) and is otherwise extremely sharp. The seperate, quality oil stone and leather hone will be especially useful once they arrive. I'm especially impressed with the bludgeon style of the pommel, which also has sharp points. Overall, any doubt about this being a genuine Damaskus blade has been put to rest, until I get some appropriate acid to re-etch a polished portion of the pattern. Even still, the hardness is not in question and it is quality steel and is over all well worth the money, in spite of the fact that you're not going to hand craft and mass produce this blade at the same time.

This is a gorgeous sword. Strictly utilitarian. Crafted with simplicity and purpose. A sword. It is not large, but it has a distinct weight. You need strong wrists to wield it. Even a man would have trouble with this sword if he were to try to use it without strong wrists. I keep it, as part of my collection, very small collection, but it is a usable sword, fully functional. So be careful. I bought because I am waiting for the zombies. LOL. Speaking of which, you would have to train hard to decapitate zombies with sword axe or spear. Train to move very fast but precisely, always aware of what is behind and to the sides, as well of what is in front. Good luck with that. Cheers.

I do believe this is not real Damascus steel , simply some form of plated over ( see details pictures) Handle was not centered, and broke after about 3 swings. on soft small wood. (not full tang , mostly likely why it will break with a few swing) Price is right, but should be advertised as a display props with plated Damascus. Disappointed, but you get what you pay for, A 30$ Chinese made Machete will hold up better.
