It's Atlantic mackerel. The printing on the back of the box indicates. "Wild Caught In The Atlantic Ocean". This a a good choice if you are trying to avoid mercury. Spanish and King Mackerel are both high in mercury. while Atlantic Mackerel is low.

How much sodium is in these?

Good question. The information on the can reads Sodium 55 mg per serving and you get 1.5 servings per can. So i am doing that math in my head and I figure that is 55 mg plus another 27, so lets average out to about 80 mg of sodium in a whole can. I believe this is naturally occurring salt because they do say no ADDED salt. But if you buy the fish in oil, the salt content is very high compared to this one in water. When you are watching your daily sodium intake, the labels are your best resource to make healthy food choices. Hope this helped you.
