The fact that does not have DisplayPort 1.4 is an issue for future proof matters?

No. Display port 1.2 is sufficient got 1440p monitors 170hz. Display port 1.4 is only needed when using 4k resolution this monitor does not offer.

I know Asus monitors, sometimes have an issue with their ventilation and the monitor can be pretty loud, has anyone noticed if this is loud at all

Mine doesnt get loud but it does get quite hot.

Is Gsync active at 170hz?

Yes, although I keep mine at 160hz. While playing Red Dead Redemption 2 I experienced some slight flickering when the screen turned mostly white at the full 170hz Although in counter strike and other games I had no issues. Monitor is insanely awesome! Was skeptical at first of the price tag, but now that I have it I couldn’t go back! Also easy to switch from different Monitor speeds on the fly. So going from 170 to 160 or 144 and back is quick and simple.
