Old School Style Manure Spreader.
I did my research on manure spreaders and wanted one large enough to handle our four horses. This is the lowest cost ground drive manure spreader of it’s kind that is made in the USA and one of the simplest. The one thing I really like, is that every part on it is basically on off the shelf item. That means that you should never have a hard time getting a part should it break. A couple take aways you should consider, this is old school thinking and you need to have some mechanically ability when assembling and setting up. I had to make some adjustments with chain tensioning and it took me a couple different adjustments and testing to get it right. This wasn’t an issue for me since my Great Grandfather invented and patented the hook link chain system that they use on this spreader back in 1922. When assembling and setting up, I suggest watching the YouTube Video and read the included instructions, you will learn from both. Customer Service is excellent, I had a couple questions and they were extremely helpful. A couple reviews I have read knocked and questioned the use of treated boards on the bottom and sides. Honestly, this isn’t an issue and I think its a benefit. Even galvanized steel will rust out and plastic will crack but wood boards can be treated and replaced easily. I give it five stars because of overall simplistic design, lower cost and function. It’s not the prettiest when compared to the ones that are twice the price, but in the end it slings horse poo quite well.

Are you an engineer?
Finish that engineering degree you were working on before you attempt assembly. Good Grief!! You'll need wrenches, allen wrenches, a big old hammer and copious amounts of alcohol to force things in place. Its short on bolts so head to the hardware store first. The instructions are only good for fire kindling when you need some heat out in the barn. You really are on your own. The delivery was fun. 18-wheeler backed to my driveway, with no notice and before I could get out the door to back my pick up down the driveway, they shoved it off the back of the truck and were gone. Fortunately, its farm equipment and survived the abuse. The pallet is in splinters. I'm a 65 year old lady and I had to drag it up my long drive as even as separate pieces it was too heavy to lift into the truck. All that being said, it looks like a great piece of equipment and I'm looking forward to getting my fields fertilized with the free fertilizer I have so much of. Once I use it, I'll update. I added some photos that I hope will be helpful.

Didn't work that well

Not Worth it
First use, the table chain would not move even after adjusting. Spreader was only half full. Then the axle broke. Save your money and buy something used on craigslist!

Awesome, with even better customer service!
I can't say enough positives about Country Manufacturing! This spreader is very solid and well built. It was easy to assemble and use... but we have had an adventure to be sure. Because of the size and rugged build it has to be delivered by a very large truck and not UPS, Fed Ex, or USPS. We live on a farm with a long driveway that the 18-wheeler could not get down, so it was delivered to the end of our driveway. That made sense. However, the delivery company was terrible. It looked like it had been thrown on and off the truck. The pallets were broken, the boxes were all broken open, and a few parts were missing too. I took pictures of it and contacted Country Manufacturing about my issue. Rather than ghosting me they responded the next day and the missing parts were sent right away... all seemed well. But for some reason it did not seem to work quite right. I figured it was because we were trying to pull it with a zero-turn mower so we garaged it for a year until we got an ATV to pull it. It still did not work right. After looking it over I realized that the shipper had bent the beater bar (or whatever it is called) so it would not turn easily and bound up. Since I was over a year from purchase I knew I was WAY out of warranty. I emailed them explaining the situation and asked how much it would be to get a new bar. They called me the next day to tell me that they would be shipping out a replacement part at no cost! I thought this level of service and companies that stand behind their products was a thing of history... but nope, they still exist!

Good for stable maintenance.
I pull this manure spreader behind my 4 wheeler. It is much cheaper than comparable manure spreader but the quality and materials are very good. I muck the stalls and load this spreader with a manure fork. I can fill it to the brim and it handles it just fine. If you load wet gobs from a manure pile with a front end loader, I expect that might squash this little loader. The Country Manufacturing Model 600 Manure Spreader is exactly what I wanted and it is good quality.

Great manure spreader
This is a review of the spreader, but I do need to mention that the shipper did a really bad job. The box was ripped open at one end and only the other end was on the pallet. Most of the box was on the ground. Luckily all the parts were still inside. The spreader assembly is quite simple but the instructions and pictures are poor. They don’t tell you where to use a flat washer or a spring washer. Another improvement that could be made is a better way to lock the Clutch in position. I had to use a vice grip so that there’s enough pressure on the belt. It takes two small tractor bucket loads and spreads the manure very well. For the price, I would recommend this spreader. Update . . . After about the tenth run around the pasture, it broke. One of the wheels came off due to a retainer pin breaking on the inside and it appears that a bearing which is attached the shaft holding a gear has disintegrated. I now need to flip it over to see the extent of the damage and missing parts. I’ll give a further up once I get into it..
