New Screen Digitizer Works Great!
I successfully replaced my 9.7" 2017 iPad's digitizer using this repair kit from T Phael. Apple wanted $250 to replace it. It only cost me $18.99 and my time (to replace it with this kit).Additional items I recommend are:1) Hair Dryer (which I used) or a Heat Gun.2) Latex Gloves3) I used many of the tools in the kit, but not all of them. Some of the tools I'm still not sure what they were for. I ended up not needing them.Searching I found several DIY tutorial videos on Youtube, which T Phael recommends doing (I used the search term "iPad 5 9.7" LCD Screen and Touch Screen Digitizer Repair"). Note: There isn't any instructions in the repair kit.The hardest part was removing my cracked digitizer. Even with using a hot hair dryer around the edges, it was still extremely difficult. But I finally managed to remove it. Just be careful not to sever any of the connectors or home button (ribbons). Once you remove the old digitizer it's really not too difficult to replace. (Just be careful not to lose any screws or scratch the LCD screen!)The adhesive in the kit was okay. We'll see how well it holds up over time. The touch screen works perfectly. The home button works (but is a bit looser now, so must be careful when pressing it). (The kit doesn't replace the home button. You use the same one that came with your iPad. So be careful not to sever the button's ribbon!)Most of all, take your time. Don't rush through fixing the screen.

It’s possible
Well what can I say. If it had not been for my sister I might not like this product. Let me explain. My screen on my iPad shattered thanks to my three year old. That’s another story. My husband did research and said it was extremely difficult to change it out and should probably not be attempted. Apple charges $200.00 to do it and I thought that was an option. A new iPad would cost me over $400.00 so decisions decisions. I found this screen replacement on Amazon and thought, okay it’s around $20.00 I’ll be throwing away if it doesn’t work so why not? My sister who has tiny hands and lots of patience offered to help and of course I accepted! Okay maybe I asked her. Anyway I watched as she carefully removed the shattered glass detached all the small connections ( I was in charge of pausing and rewinding the how to video) I will tell you that if I was the one doing it I would have been so frustrated and probably wanted to give this product a one star review but really if the person doing the changing has the personality and patience this product is perfect. I woke up this morning after having a few nightmares last night about screen changing and there it was my beautiful iPad good as new! Yes, the operation was successful and the $20.00 investment paid off. If you or a loved one have a patience level like my sister go for it!!!

Great price easy install
Very inexpensive. Adhesion is a little light which isn’t an issue in a case and makes it easier to replace in the future. Cable pushes the screen up but since there is no direction, I have Found afterwards that you are to remove the sticky tape and tape The cable to screen before install. I ordered 3 of these for two iPads. Had to replace one already and another one cracked just being left in the car at the home button with the hard front plastic cover protector on the face. I reused the original home buttonssand was able to retain the finger Touch ID. I’m not 100% sure what caused the issue but Am willing to order one more to try and find a 9h screen protector to apply right after install. Both iPad Gen 5 get put in the otter ox defender case with the hard screen over it when not in use. Maybe a good 9h screen protector as good practice would make this a great digitizer. In the otter box boils make it so we can remove the not so good plastic protector that scratches and doesn’t prevent against any impact. Not to be confused with the hard front case cover that you can put on when placing in the bag.

Screen not clear, has scratches
Got this for my husband to fix his ipad and this is what he wrote:First, I want to say, that I'm usually very handy with DIY projects but admittedly, I haven't done a lot of mobile devices, in fact, this is my first. I'm uncertain where I went wrong but there1. I think you definitely need some extra glue for the home button. Eventhough I didn't use glue, it seem to still stay put as the orginal glue was sticky.2. Parts of the screen does not work. Trying to put the pin code in, only 3 of the numbers worked making it impossible to login.3. This part however is the reason I would not buy this product. Let's say due to my inexperience I installed this incorrectly and #1 and #2 above were my fault. However, thier screen had fine little scratches as if the manufacturing process was flawed. You can see it when the screen is black as per the picture I posted. For this reason, I would not recommend this product. I thought maybe there was a film I missed on the inside of the screen like the one I removed on the outside of the screen. So I opened the ipad again. During opening I ended up cracking the screen. Anyway, there was no film on the inside, the screen just has scratches.I posted a picture to show the scratches. You can see in the picture how I cracked the screen again trying to reopen it.I don't plan on returning it or asking for a refund. My mistake for trying to fix this myself. There are plenty of places that will fix it without the frustration.
