A life changing purchase for cleaning the home
The media could not be loaded. This product is a gift to my cousin and his family so this is their input on what they thought of this product. Here is their thoughts on the Ecovac Deebot T80 Omni:My family and I used to have a Roomba but it just wasn’t strong and thorough enough. That might have had to do with the Roomba’s mapping capabilities. We transitioned to a Dyson cordless vacuum. With our growing family and busy schedule with work and activities the floors were neglected and crumbs started piling up. So we decided to do give robovacs a try so that it would clean while we were out of the house. Our priorities were strength, wet mopping abilities, and thoroughness so finding the one with superior mapping was a must. Additionally, we have a Moroccan/Beni Ourain rug that sheds a TON and often clogged our past vacuums (corded Shark and Roomba). The Roomba also got stuck on the tassels a ton even though I programmed it to avoid area.Through some heavy research, we landed on Ecovac Deebot T80 Omni due to reviews of excellent mapping and strength.Setup: simple. 5 pieces to put together. Plug it in and have it against a wall. Fill one of the reservoirs with water. Download the app, set up account, connect to wifi. That’s pretty much it.TestMapping: it goes without saying but make sure to complete clear your floors of toys for the most thorough mapping process. Let it do its thing. It took a couple of hours to get my whole house.Update: 12 hours after the first couple of go around, it seems as though it’s getting a deeper understanding of the layout of my house plus the different types of surfaces it’s cleaning. Not going to lie, this has inspired my kids to keep things off the floor. Shame on us but we told them that if their things are on the floor the “robot” will eat it up.Update 2: I’m on day 3 and was in for a huge surprise. On the first day the vacuum sucked the rug tassels and got stuck which I had to undo. Today, it completely recognized the tassels and went around it.Vacuum: something I didn’t think about was the shape being important. The shape of this Ecovac was able to get under and in between our dining chairs and bar stools where all of our crumbs are. It was pretty thorough just off that capability alone.Wet mopping abilities: really solid. We have a corded Shark steam mop wet mop and while strong, the whole plugging into outlets was such a hassle so yes, we neglected that part of cleaning our house. This did a sufficient job for a robovac.Things that I didn’t consider when buying but totally a huge plus:Volume: lol our Roomba was loud. This was probably 50-75-% of the volume. I let it run at night in the kitchen and I didn’t notice it.Light: there’s a flashlight at the front that helps the camera find more crumbs/debris which was a game changer. Add a point for thoroughnessAuto empty: This Ecovac has a sensor that recognizes when it’s getting too full and immediately docks itself to empty. Crazy.Alerts: if it stops, it announces why it stopped which takes out the guessing and troubleshooting. There was a case of a ton of hair tangling and wanted me to pause the cycle and wipe it out. Super simple. Our Dyson had an issue and had no idea why. We thought it broke. Spent a good amount of time on YouTube to find the exact video to fix the issue.Auto cleans the mop with heat when docked: caught me by surprise so I thought that was a nice feature. They are machine washable as well so I’ll be doing that.AppFunctionality: took a second to figure out. But after playing around for a bit, it made sense. I like how you can select the room you wanted to clean. I primarily want the kitchen/dining area cleaned right after meals so I just run it for those two areas as soon as we’re done eating so that was awesome.Settings: I appreciate how you can set it for vacuum and/or wet mop, strength of suction, water flow, cleaning speed and cleaning passes. I haven’t played with the advanced settings but at first glance, there’s some in depth offerings that I look forward to utilizing eg room sequence (living room then dining room then master), carpet deep clean.ConsApp: definitely a learning curve. I couldn’t hand this to my mom for her to figure out. I might have to coordinate the settings she would want myself. The Little Brush That Could: I’m pretty sure that it’s there to gather dirt and push it towards the vacuum but the times I was monitoring the performance I saw it brush away debris which made me giggle. But due to the complete mapping/programming it eventually picked it up.Overall: we are extremely happy with this product. If you have kids that drop food crumbs or sticky liquid, this is a must. The wet mop did a great job enough to justify the purchase. Additionally, we don’t see remnants of our Beni Ourain rug all over the baseboards or under our credenzas because of house powerful and thorough the mapping is.

A future with far less vaccuming and mopping!
One of my least favorite activities is vacuuming, and with a young child, this is necessary all too often every week. So, I decided to see how the Deebot X9 Pro Omni would handle a home where crumbs are common and navigating around an obstacle course of toys is often necessary. I must say, I'm impressed! I had a robot vacuum some years ago without virtual mapping, and it basically bounced around rooms at random until the battery died, and it tried to find its dock again. In comparison, this X9 Pro works perfectly, knows where it is going, and feels like the future has arrived. What works well:1. Easy set up. Instructions were very clear.2. On first use, the Deebot did a thorough job of mapping my entire home. I soon realized I needed to take the instructions seriously and clear the floors to get the best map.3. The app makes it easy to edit the boundaries and where I want it to go based on that map.4. Suction is great, and the mop extends to the wall brilliantly when needed, briefly retracting and extending again when reaching a corner so that the vacuum can rotate without bumping the roller as it turns.5. I tried spot cleaning a deliberate trial mess of crumbs, and it quickly went to the place I selected in-app and proceeded to clean up the mess thoroughly. No crumb was left behind, and it went in both a vertical and horizontal pattern over the area in great detail.6. The AI aspect is pretty neat. As it learns where furniture is (even without adding furniture manually in-app), it appears to have learnt to avoid them better the next time when passing through a room to reach its destination.7. I was worried that hair would get caught on the roller, as has often been the case with prior vacuums. This has not been the case as the roller automatically prevents this from happening by lifting, snapping, and sucking hair off the roller. Where has this technology been in the hundreds of times I've had to remove a roller just to detangle and remove hair manually?8. The brush, mop, and collection canister are easily removable for servicing or replacement.9. When suction is set to high, the battery lasts 2–3 rooms before recharging. The X9 knows to return, recharge, and then continues cleaning without further instruction. It also returns to self-empty whenever needed.10. Patrol mode is a nice bonus I wasn't expecting, automatically taking photos throughout my house. It also allows me to control where it goes, see what's happening, and even speak through it.Improvements needed:1. A digital carpet has to be placed in each room rather than setting carpet as the default floor type. This works fine, but adds a minor extra step during the initial setup.2. Every time the X9 returns to the collection bin to self-empty, there is a repeated vocal prompt explaining what it is doing. It would be nice to be able to turn off vocal feedback.3. I could not get the voice activation to work with the activation name.Needless to say, I'm impressed. With its low profile, this vacuum also cleans places such as under beds and dressers, which my manual vacuum could not reach. I'm hoping this will help make allergy season much more bearable!
