This looks at quilt making in the author's personal style ...
This looks at quilt making in the author's personal style so it is a bit of a 'Marmite' book. The fabrics and methods are not my favourites, but it is interesting to see how the author approaches design.

Great book, terrible print quality
For "saturated colour", in the on demand print copy warning, read grey, grainy and flat colour. A terrible disappointment, I would be appalled if I were the author.

Love this book.
It's so important to look at things differently, to change things up, to understand something of art. This book will improve EVERY quilt you make--not because your points are perfect but because you are seeing more.

A great teaching book more than just fabrics
This book has some crazy fabric combos BUT what makes it awesome is that it discusses right/left brain conflicts and how to overcome them. I bought another book titled "how to be a more confident quilter" looking for just this kind of help but that book just has a few basic tips and then quilt patterns (which are really good but not the point of the book imo). This book should have the other book's title because it helps you to get out of your comfort zone and choose more diverse color schemes and designs. I really like it.

The Fabric makes the quilt
This is an excellent book for quilters starting out. It gets to the basics of quilting - that the fabric is the most important selection for a quilt. The merging of colours and textures is what makes a successful quilt. This is my favourite quilting book.

Gorgeous Colors!
The colors are beautiful and lush. The lessons are great. But this book is not for beginning quilters, at least not ALL beginning quilters. It's an art quilt book, and if that's what you are looking for, this is a wonderful one. The only gripe I have, and it's not a big one, is that the fabrics she shows us, and works with, are almost all from other countries. As such, it's very exotic looking. You could eat your heart out over this. For instance the "Kente Cloth" from Ghana is to die for, and I haven't seen anything like it in my LQS. But luckily for us we have no shortage of beautiful fabrics in our shops, so we can use substitutes. I think you'll want to read this book from cover to cover, it's that intriquing.

Authority on patterned fabrics in quilts
Roberta Horton is my favorite author when it comes to ideas for combining print fabrics in quilts. This book did not disappoint.
