They are all synthetic and waterproof and have been a real delight to wear; so far, traction has been good, but I'm not a terrifically athletic person that does a lot of hiking in hazardous areas. So far, they wear well and after months, show almost no deterioration. If I ever need more, I will buy these for sure. The Velcro straps in the back make getting in and out of them very easy. The comfort is ok not the best. I would recommend them if you need a good pair of strap sandals.
