MISSION Multi-Use Neck Gaiter Face Mask for Ski & Outdoors, UPF 50, Breathable Lightweight Fabric

My fiance and I absolutely HATE the heat, but, living in CA, you don't have much choice if you want to do things outdoors. I bought 2 of these when we were going through a major heat wave recently. I like that you can put it over your head and it sits like a scarf and you don't have to fiddle around with it to make sure it stays on. I've found that to be the only way to wear that is actually functional for me. The other ways either aren't as effective or are way too restrictive (and ridiculous!) for casual outdoor yardwork. My fiance didn't want to wear his at first. So one hot day, after a long session of playing with my dog, i put this around my dog's neck. He doesn't like water: he doesn't like being wet, stepping in water, being sprayed, etc, and runs away whenever i grab the hose to water the yard, whenever i turn on the water in the shower, or whenever i turn on the sprinklers (even though they're nowhere near him)... weirdo. But, to my surprise, he was absolutely okay with having this drenched towel around his neck! And, instead of panting loudly for 20 minutes after playing, he only panted heavily for 5 minutes after i put the cooling towel around him! I was really happy that he doesn't refuse it and that it helps him, because dogs overheating is a legitimate concern (many k-9 units have been lost due to heat exhaustion.... really sad. look it up). And my dog has a tendency to not care about anything else when it's play time, not even his own health!!! (one scary example: we were playing in the front yard, and he came back limping, i was wondering what happened and tried to look at his leg. He backed away and just wanted me to throw the ball again. so i did. when he came back the second time, i realized a ton of blood on his foot... I was like OMG WHAT HAPPENED!!!? Turns out, he had nearly ripped off one of his rear dew claws somehow on the previous throw/return. To this day, I still don't know how it happened, there's nothing sharp in my grass! This claw was just barrrrrely hanging on. So here he is, limping, and blood everywhere; he doesn't care, HE WANTS TO PLAY!! Looking back at this, it's funny as hell, but at the time, I was freaking out. I immediately put pressure on it and we wrapped it and called the vet. He eventually had surgery to remove his rear dew claws. He's just fine now :) and still doesn't care about his own health. dogs are silly) Either way, This is awesome for my dog. plus it looks suuuper cute on him, looks like a handkerchief but keeps him cool. It was an unintended purpose for this purchase, but it turned out to be a really good thing for my pup, who goes 100% on every single throw, no matter if he's limping, overheated, bloody, missing a toe.... etc. It's my way of looking after his health since HE doesn't. OH, another use i forgot to mention: I had actually bought this as a gift for my dad who does go-karting. I remember he had mentioned about being so hot when he's karting (cuz you got all that gear on, helmet, full body suit plus neck padding and rib cage protectors, and you're in direct sun and heat, and you're on black asphalt.... yeahhh) So anyways, i was like omg, this would be perfect for my dad, cuz he can wear it under all of his gear and under his helmet! He reported back to me and said he loves it and makes it soooo much more bearable in that heat. So, there's another use for it. I got him the black one so that it blends in with his gear.

With the requirements in most states now being that anytime you enter a store or go out in public you are required to wear a mask to cover your nose and mouth so you arent exposing others to your germs or exposing yourself to others this neck gaiter is amazing, it fits well, is just right as far as thickness goes as it doesn't make your face to warm and is almost like not having anything on at all. Allow you to breath normally, it is washable and reusable on top of everything else. It will also protect you from the sun which is just an added bonus overall. This is something that you will use regardless of the requirements to wear a facial covering due to current situation we are facing across the country. I had one of these prior to Covid and will continue to use these well after this all passes, they are great in the summer when cutting the grass as you can wet and ring out then put on to help keep you cooler as well as protect you from the sun. Its a great item to have on hand and you will find yourself using it a lot more than you would expect as it is a multi-functional item for sure. I would highly recommend as this neck gaiter is made by a great company and the product last forever if cared for correctly as I have had one of mine for 5 plus years. Care for them is simple as you can wash in your washing machine. You will not be disappointed if you pick one up and again you will find yourself using a lot more than you think as you will discover a ton of different situations that it can be used for.

Provides needed protection and cools (but probably not much more than any other neck gaiter would, after soaking it in cold water and waving it through cool air). The only issue that I have with it is that it does not go down far enough in the back, so leaves a gap between the shirt and the neck gaiter. I find myself often trying to pull it down there, to cover it, but it keeps creeping back up. I wish that it had a flap on one side (or something), that would make it go down a bit more there - the neck / upper back is the most exposed part to the sun.

I decided to test the cooling of the gaiter. I used my laser thermometer and read 80 degrees on the gaiter draped over my kitchen faucet. I dunked it in 90 degree water, wrung it out, snapped it 3 times and draped it over the faucet again. Within a few minutes the temp of the gaiter averaged around 72 degrees. Since my skin temp was around 90 it will definitely cool. There also appears to be an evaporation effect as when I held the gaiter in my hand it felt a lot cooler with no change in the actual temp of the gaiter. I tried it out doing some gardening on a godawful humid day after the sun was setting. It did a pretty good job of keeping my neck cool. I'll try it as a dust mask when I cut the lawn next. I have a 17" neck and had no problems with the fit. Some people have complained of feeling choked but I did not. Maybe I'm more used to things around my neck to keep me cooler since I always have a towel or some such around my neck to try and keep cool in the summer. The only way to get cooler is to use my "the dog's right" cooling collar. That is a cotton collar, with pockets for blue ice strips. Worked great for the dogs so I tried it on my neck, with the ice packets on the back of my neck. Kept me functioning on real hot days and protected my neck from the sun. I'll be using the gaiter as a level 1 cooler especially as it is less hassle to use than the dog cooler. Over 80 degrees and in the sun I'll go to level 2, the dog cooling collar. All in all a good purchase.

I actually originally got this for exercising at the gym. But ever since the quarantine started, I've been using it outdoors when I walk and run. Good thing about this is, this gaiter is made to be worn "wet", so I would get some ice in a small bowl, add some cold water, and wet the gaiter with that ice cold water. Wring it out, snap it a few times, and wear it on my neck that way. When I encounter a neighbor, I can quickly pull up the gaiter over my mouth and nose. As much as they say that the fabric is made of proprietary technology, I truly don't know if there's anything special in it. But what I do know is, it is soft and comfortable. When wet, it stayed wet for relatively long time ( I go out for 2 hours walks). Since I carry a cold bottle of water, if the walk or run is long enough to dry out the gaiter, I'd re-wet it again, to kick-start the cooling towel effects. The softness of the fabric is probably one of the softest I've encountered. It's got enough elasticity that it does not suffocate my slightly above average head and neck. I've laundered mine many times, and it stayed soft, time and time again. It is also very breathable, even when wet. Actually, I'd prefer it to be wet when outside in the hot sun. One of the versatilities of this gaiter, is to use it as a head-band. To me, that's a bit tight, but if I pull it up and over past your eyes, you can use it as a skull cap by pulling the excess to the back and tucking under the base in the back. This is probably one of the items that saved me in this COVID-19 pandemic. If you don't like how other masks work for you, try one of these out. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. I purchased the MISSION Cooling UPF Multi-Use Neck Gaiter for my 7-year-old son who plays Little League, hoping it would help keep him cool during hot game days. While the material and cooling performance felt excellent, it turned out to be too large for a child’s head and neck, even with folding or adjusting. The product is clearly designed for adults, and though it may be a great option for runners, outdoor workers, or athletes, it’s not well-suited for younger kids. We ended up returning it, but I’d still recommend it for teens or adults looking for a reliable, multi-use cooling gaiter with solid UPF protection and moisture-activated tech. Just not the right fit for little ones.

Love those masks

I bought two of these in different colors so that I could get them wet and hike with them in the grand canyon. They worked wonderfully, especially as the day went on and got hotter. Felt like I got my second wind (and third and fourth) every time I got it wet again. It was comfortable. Not too loose and not too tight. It also helped my neck not get scorched by the sun. Definitely recommend these.

Cache cou d'une bonne longueur. Tissus agréable à porter. Refroidit lors de canicule. Peut servir de masque facial ou sécuriser un masque de procédure (masque médical) lors d'intervention. Reste beau malgré de nombreux lavage.

Excelente ! Muy útil

My Gaiter came in good time. I love it. At first it was a bit tight around the the neck. After a couple washes it seems to loosen up a bit. The gaiter is well made with a thin material making it easier to breath through. It stays up perfectly but I find after a few you have to adjust it. The gaiter can be folded up and a Kleenex or coffee can be inserted for extra protection against Covid-19. I held the gaiter under the cold water tap and snapped it 3 or 4 times and put it around my neck. The cooling part works really, really well. I’m impressed. I bought another one a couple days later.
