Welsh Corgis: Pembroke and Cardigan (A Complete Pet Owner's Manual)
A**T
Based on American Kennel Club standards
I bought this book mainly to explore differences between Cardigan and Pembroke Welsh corgis, and also for the pictures, as my last corgi recently passed away aged 14. I am enjoying reading the book, and the photos are lovely, although the majority of them are Pembroke corgis, which is not surprising, as these greatly outnumber the Cardigan Corgis. The first few chapters seem to be about breed standards, and as they are specifically related to the American Kennel club, many of the standards of not applicable to the U.K., in particular those regarding docking of Pembroke Corgi tails, which is banned by law in U.K. now. I am currently reading section on training, which is generally good advice. The advice about taking, or preferable, not taking your corgi travelling on holiday with you is again solely applicable to U.S. and totally irrelevant to U.K. where there are dog friendly hotels, caravan parks, shops, cafes, pubs, restaurants etc in abundance. If, like me, you bought this book for the beautiful photos and to remind yourself about how to bring up and train a puppy, you will enjoy this book. If you want advice about travelling with your dog on holiday and where and how to buy your puppy, and you don't live in U.S. this is probably not the book for you.
