Can it be used in saltwater?

Anything can be used in saltwater. It would just be very important to flush everything out with fresh water each time you are done using it to prevent corrosion. The boat does suck water through a system to keep the motor cool so you would want to keep that clean. The top of the boat comes off to access the battery and that cover has a pretty good rubber seal that should keep excess water out of the hull. Just clean it good each time.
