Fantastic, like a high end smooth green tea!
If no one told me this was not a high end smooth Green Tea, I wouldn't know. The smell and taste are the same. The only thing that stands out is the darker brownish to black color which must be why the Europeans changed the name from the natives White Drink to Black Drink. I went on YouTube and watched one of the brothers walk through how they create this product which was very impressive. Because it is a native Florida plant it doesn't need a bunch of artificial care. It can be easily grown anywhere in much of the south of the US. They even have harvested straight from wild trees, so no pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, extra water, or any other pollutants. Awesome! I really love everything about this product. It will definitely change my caffeine intake. Right now is mostly coffee and green tea with some black tea. I'm sure I'll still have some of those, but I'll definitely be trying some of the other flavors of Yaupon from the Yaupon Brothers! If you like Green Tea, give this one a shot. It's like a high end green tea, very smooth, no bitterness. The one thing I didn't see was good directions for prep. What I did find was instructions to add the tea bag to a cup of boiling water for five minutes, which seemed extreme to me. I don't even ravage black tea to that extent. Instead, I microwaved it (1200 watt microwave) in a big mug (~10oz water) for 1:45 and then it sat for a few minutes while I was finishing the dishes. After that a smell and a taste test and it was perfect so I removed the bag. I'll definitely try the boiling water for five minutes thing, just to see if there is a difference, but it was way to much effort after hours of yard work. Maybe there's a reason like more flavor or more caffeine release...who knowsโฝ

So far, Florida grown Yaupon is king
Florida grown green Yaupon is far away my favorite. Yaupon grown further north up the coast, the milder the flavor, the lower the energy boost. The further west, the nuttierโalmost woody and hay-likeโand almost no caffiene. Yaupon Brothers green is the best Iโve found so farโearthy, essence of lightly green bananas, especially when bought during the spring and summer, and an almost entourage effect of energy thatโs more than just caffeine.

Not As Bitter As Others
I'm slowly working my way through yaupon brands, & so far, Yaupon Brothers' green tea is on top. It's not as bitter as some of the other roasted types & is very palatable. There definitely is a bitterness to it, & it doesn't taste like traditional green or black tea. I love that it's grown here on the east coast of the U.S. in a sustainable way & that unlike black or green teas, it doesn't make my heart race or my stomach hurt. The fact that it's loaded with antioxidants & other healthy substances seals the deal for me. Yaupon Brothers' packaging is beautiful (I'll probably use the empty box as a pencil holder), but I'd prefer cheaper packaging & a lower cost. I'd actually prefer loose tea in a bag.

A New Favorite
Do you like loose leaf green tea? You'll probably like this just as much. Of course, it isn't the same flavor, but it reminds me of a good, strong flavored, loose leaf green tea. It's very smooth and mellow, but not stingy on taste. Their claims about how the caffeine hits ring true to me. It's a nice little pick-me up, but without the intensity of a big mug of coffee. Everything about this tea is just smooth and pleasant. I've also found that you can make a couple big mugs from each tea bag, a nice bonus since it is a little more expensive. All that said, Yaupon Brothers seems to be doing things right. All biodegrable packaging, sustainable farming, and producing an excellent product. When I can afford it, that's the kind of company I'd like to support anyway. Plus, how often can you support an American tea company!? Too cool! I can't wait for my fire roasted Warrior blend to get here so I can try it as well. I can also highly recommend the Florida Chai!

Smooth mellow taste without the bitter tannins
This is by far the the best tasting tea I have ever had. I love the smooth taste without the bitter tannins found in Asian teas and coffee. And it's low in oxylate, which is a plus for those of us who get kidney stones!

Highly caffeinated
Customer should know if they have never had this before it is highly caffeinated one tea bag for me was equivalent to having four cups of tea at once or coffee. So I deluded it greatly and made a type of infused water in a gallon jar. It is good it's green tea but very caffeinated. Good thing I like caffeine.
