Great product. Smells better than most other fruit fly media. Lasts a long time, makes like 20 cultures, easy to make. Highly recommend.

I hesitated breeding my own fruit flies after reading through dozens of culture medium recipes and horror stories of mites, mold, and awful odors. But the quality of flightless fruit flies at my local pet store was very hit-or-miss, and these flies were the primary food source for 15 spiderlings. So I decided to give it a go, and I chose this culture medium for my first attempt at breeding. It couldn't have been easier to use and had a pleasant scent. Most importantly, I've had incredible success. I've started 5 cultures so far, and every one has produced hundreds of active, healthy fruit flies with no issues like mold, mites, etc. I couldn't be happier, with a constant food supply and no more paying $11 for a small container of half-dead flies from the pet shop.

Absolutely horrible item I have to completely replace my fruit flies due to this because I was already on a low amount. I ordered this product in hopes that it was worth me spending a little extra money to get an extra pound or two instead of buying Superfly but indeed was not. First off as you have heard and everybody else has posted when they post a negative review that they seem that the batches are inconsistent especially because they have purchased from them before and they are continuing to make them the same exact way. Well her following instructions the one serving filled up two half 32 oz cups. Which I was only looking to make one so I had to go with another one because it would have been plum full to the top almost. The other thing is is the water ratio was completely off That's how I know that there is inconsistencies in their bats because there's no way you can put out a product like this and have ratios off that horribly. I made about a hundred cultures of Superfly before I even tried this stuff. I sure as hell know how to make a fruit fly culture especially if I'm following your directions. They won't take a return back on this or refund my money and they have done the same thing when they sent me rotting plants. Bromeliads to be specific. At this point the last thing I will ever do is recommend Josh's frogs and this is coming from somebody that has sold exotic animals for over 20 years. And does it currently as a living today.

This Melanogaster Fruit Fly Culture Mix has been my go-to for consistently producing a good harvest of fruit flies. Every time I use it, I get plenty of healthy flies, and the cultures typically last around two months before they go bad. One trick I’ve found is using half of the recommended amount of mix—it actually gives me better results and makes the product last twice as long! The flies thrive, and the cultures stay in great condition. If you're looking for a reliable and cost-effective option for breeding Drosophila melanogaster, this is definitely worth it!
