I've tried tons of glass bottles. This one rules.
(I'm writing this under my husbands account.) My husband got this for me for Christmas, and I LOVE this water bottle. I prefer glass water bottles for the taste, but I've had many and most of them shatter the first or second time you drop them. One I had recently, shattered into about a billion peices while my husband was just washing it in the sink (it only fell about 6 inches), my husband got some pretty nasty cuts on his hand, and after that, I was seriously considering going back to plastic, when he found this awesome water bottle. Firstly, I'm sure it's possible to break this water bottle, but it would be a heck of a lot harder than a normal completely glass bottle.The outside layer is plastic. It's easier to grip than glass, (so less likely to fall in the first place) and has a little give to it. There's an inner glass bottle, that holds your beverage, and it's only touched by glass, so you get the great taste (which, is the first reason to get a glass bottle). The double bottle also acts to insulate cold water (and does a pretty awesome job).Personally, I'm a fan of the open mouth water bottles (like this one) vs. straws or the pop-up caps. This bottle's mouth is just the right size and comfortable to drink out of. I like the top [lid] as well. *note to first time users, it flips ALL the way back. like 270 degrees, so it's lying against the side of the bottle completly out of your way. I didn't know this at first and thought it obstructed my ability to drink, but just keep pushing it back (it has two hinges, so it kindof stops, then you have to push it a little harder to get it to go the rest of the way)The [lid] locks as well. I like this because I carry my watter bottle in my lunch bag, and sometimes my purse, to work, so knowing that it won't pop open and drench everything is pretty nice. The bottle has a handle as well, which makes it easier to carry when your hands are full.One last thing: I can't figure out why, but most of the seals on my other glass water bottles aren't perfect. They leak. This one is perfect. I'm totally comfortable putting in my purse with my iPhone (when it's locked of course)All in all, I don't have one bad thing to say about this water bottle, and will be replacing all of my other water bottles with this one as they break. (it shouldn't take too long.)

Extremely pratical design. My coworkers like it. I will be ordering a second bottle, different color.
Kudos to Glasstic for this design. I am a very anal researcher when it comes to buying a new type of product. I have been researching glass bottles for three weeks before ordering this product. I also ordered another brand on the same day to compare the two. My coworkers agreed that this product was the clear winner.The only reason I did not give five stars is because I have only had this unit for a couple of days so the durability and mold jury is still out. I filled the bottle with filtered water and carried it to lunch with me. I felt confident it would not leak so I had no issue with laying it on its side on my tray as I walked throughout the cafeteria.UPDATE - I just changed rating to five stars due to durability - END UPDATEThe handle feels very sturdy. The lid flips back and basically locks into any position to include the 90, 180, and 260 degree positions (opening lid left to right). I also slept with this product half-filled on my nightstand. I woke up, took a drink, and went back to sleep. The raised spout allowed me to feel the proper placement in the dark as not to spill water on myself or my bed.On a personal note there was writing on the bottom of the invoice apparently by hand. The statement was a request to add a review on Amazon if I liked the product. You don't see that personal touch that often these days. It indicates they value what I think about their product so kudos to whomever wrote that note. My review is based on my experience and not on the request. However, it is good to know that your thoughts have some value to a manufacturer from the moment you open the box.I'll continue to use this product at work as well as home and will not hesitate to let people know where I purchased it.On an entirely separate note I would also like to recommend a new, no-nonsense nutrition book called It's Not the Cans: The Best Nutrient Balance for a Stronger and Healthier You . I was very impressed and view the information to be very useful for people of all ages and fitness levels.

Glass/Plastic bottle
The media could not be loaded. What a neat idea! The glass water bottle inside is surrounded by a plastic shell to keep the glass bottle safe from breakage. It stands a little over 10" tall. The top and bottom seals unscrew so the glass bottle can be removed for cleaning (you need to push down on it to get it to slide out the bottom of the plastic shell). It holds 16oz. but the opening is only about 1 3/4" round, so it's tough for me to get ice in it from the refrigerator ice maker. I like that the top locks and the handle can be moved all the way up or down, and the lid also goes all the way down to make it easier to drink. What I like best is that the drinking spout (not really much of one) is sealed. I take a water bottle with me everywhere and when I'm out I don't want the spout being exposed and getting grungy. So far the bottle hasn't leaked. Right now it's summer and because this bottle isn't insulated it doesn't keep the water cold for long so I'm using it inside.I was provided four laminated inserts that go in between the plastic and the glass. As far as I can see, the sheets cannot be purchased separately, but some of these bottles do come with with different designed inserts. But you can insert your own designs if you have a Laminator. I put in a laminated wedding photo of us almost 40 years ago (yikes!). The inserts make the bottle both personal and cute. Please note: inserts are not included; I'm providing photos so you can tell what they look like.{Sample provided for review}
