WORTH THE PRICE! (50s, oily & sensitive skin, tretinoin user)
WOWZA. This is totally worth the hype. I’m in my 50s & have oily skin (sometimes combo), and my skin is extremely sensitive. This cream isn’t oily, but it does leave a dewy/bouncy texture which I really like—not quite a “glass skin” look, but nice & dewy making skin look fresh. It’s lightweight, but rich & moisturizing. This doesn’t make my skin oiler at all (although, again, it does leave a bit of a dewy/bouncy texture, so if you are looking for something with a matte finish, then this is probably not the one for you) & it’s completely fragrance-free and has never bothered my skin once, and I even use it on and around my eyes. This cream is the BEST I’ve ever tried—hands-down (and I’m old enough that I have tried many). I started by using it at night layering it after azelaic acid & tretinoin & I’m thrilled with the results! I wake up with incredibly moisturized skin. Prior to using this cream, I was having some minor irritation from the tretinoin & this miracle stuff completely banished all irritation! Since I started using this on top I’ve had ZERO irritation from the tret. Since it was doing so well at night, I thought I’d give it a try during the day, although I was afraid it would be a bit rich for daytime use. But my fears were unfounded, but note that I apply it fairly lightly during the day. It’s been fantastic during the day as well. I considered the price a little high for this cream when compared to others, but honestly, I now feel it’s more than worth the cost. I think it’s a very fair price for the quality you get. I’ve been using this for about 2 months now and I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to go back to another face moisturizer! It checks all my boxes, and I will definitely be purchasing again. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Best I’ve Had
Love this moisturizer! I’ve ordered it twice because I love how it leave my skin. It’s a bouncy texture that spreads easily. At first it can feel a little tacky but the dry down feels very moisturizing and absorbs well into the skin. I feel like it lasts all day and leaves a natural glow without looking greasy, which is always a concern with my combination skin. Will definitely be ordering again when my new one runs out!!

Another hit from experiment!
For the price point of this product it’s a great value. It’s somehow simultaneously thick and luxurious yet light weight and bouncy. In the product description it says that it’s bouncy and I thought to myself. What do you mean bouncy? How is a moisturizer bounc? But when I received it and used it immediately, yes this is bouncy. It has the thickness of a heavier cream yet the mobility and density of a gel almost. It’s an amazing hybrid. I often have a hard time with thick creams as they tend to be clogging with my skin type, but this one is just thick enough to be moisturizing and repairing, but not too dense as to cause clogged pores. It goes on silky, smooth, and light weight. It doesn’t feel greasy at all, but provides a Dewey finish that slowly absorbs. I have had no issues with layering it with make up. It’s been a great addition for my skin during these winter months to help protect it from drying out. I typically use it at night to help walk in moisture, but it’s also great for mornings when I wake up and my skin is a little bit dry and sensitive from retinal use. Overall extremely happy.

Fabulous cream for very dry sensitive skin
I have 40+ dry sensitive skin, that flakes and breaks out easily. I had been using La Mer's Creme de la Mer for years but the recent cost of living crisis had me rethink their insane prices and what I was sacrificing to cover the cost (when you have problem skin you will do literally anything to cure it). It was the only thing that worked to keep my skin hydrated UNTIL I found Experiment's Molecular Mesh Barrier Repair. This AMAZING CREAM is a miracle in a tube for my skin. While it can be described as greasy, my skin drinks it up and feels supple and soft all day (12 hours). It instantly relieves that tight dry, irritated feeling when applied. It layers so nicely with all my primers and makeup. I never experienced any flare ups or irritation. It has very little to zero fragrance which I love. Honestly, the chemists that developed this formula deserve all the kudos. The price is very fair for the quality and I don't mind the squeezy packaging at all. I'm on my third tube, about to buy a fourth. If I ever met the inventors of Experiment, I would hug them!!! Having troublesome skin is an emotional journey and when you find something that works, and is affordable, you just feel nothing but gratitude. I hope this review is helpful to others.

Overall good moisturizer.
I have used this for a long time now and I love it, it does everything it says it’s supposed to. Redness reduction aside as for that part I’m not sure if it’s this product or what I consume on a daily basis. That aside it doesn’t break me out, it’s moisturizing, fragrance free, works well at night or under makeup during the day, plays well with other skincare as well. I love it. The only reason for one less star is I’m not sure about the redness reduction.

This face cream leaves my skin hydrated and glowing
If your'e not a glowy girly or you have oily skin, you may not care for this product. But I love this cream and your dry or dry/oily combination skin will love you for it. My face feels quenched and drenched after applying. Highly recommended. And the price is great too!

My Skin Barrier’s Emotional Support Moisturizer
This is the one. I’ve been using Experiment Molecular Mesh Barrier Repair Moisturizer for a little over 6 weeks, mostly while doing the sandwich method with Tretinoin, and I genuinely love it. Starting Tret is basically agreeing to let your face go through a tiny identity crisis for a while, and this moisturizer has helped keep mine from completely falling apart. It’s lightweight, soothing, and somehow still manages to feel really moisturizing without being heavy or greasy. My skin feels calmer, less irritated, and way less dramatic when I use this consistently. What I really like is that it layers well. It doesn’t pill, it doesn’t do anything weird under or over tret, and it helps take the edge off the dryness and flaking that come with being a new tret user. It just quietly does its job, which honestly is more than I can say for a lot of expensive skincare. A little goes a decent way, and it has absolutely earned its place in my routine. If your skin barrier is feeling fragile, irritated, or personally offended by Tretinoin, this is definitely worth trying.

My Skin Didn’t Love
While the concept is great, the ingredients are thoughtful, and the value is there (you get a good amount for the price!), this moisturizer unfortunately didn’t work for me. I have sensitive, dry, redness (rosacea) and acne prone skin. I live in a high altitude and very dry climate. My skincare is essentially fighting to keep my barrier level intact and reduce redness. I was hoping this moisturizer could be another weapon in my arsenal, but unfortunately it’s too occlusive for my skin. My cheeks are prone to flushing and getting warm if my moisturizer is too thick. Although I applied a very small amount of this moisturizer, my face felt warm within minutes and the blotchy redness had started. I washed it off and it did calm down after about a few hours (and using my tried + true products for managing skin flare ups). I will say even though it’s too thick for me, I did generally like the texture of it - it’s really interesting! The color is also cool and it smelled very mild but nice. If you have sensitive skin similar to what I described above, I would highly recommend a patch test before diving in.
