Is the type of cat food pate? Or bits or shreds or something else?

it's not a pate. it's in sauces and gravy. i would call it more bits than shreds.

Do you have any padding within the box to prevent damage to the cans during shipment like being bent or lids popping open?

I've had them shipped with just a label stuck on the box or in one of the white envelopes. They have also come in boxes with and without padding. Most of the time they arrive fine. I've only had once or twice when I've had them arrive very damaged and Amazon has made it right ASAP.

Where are the scallops, cheese and chicken? it says poultry on some but what kind of poultry. it does not list scallops at all in the ingredients. so

It appears to mean they just added some synthetic perfume to the cans, as in "artificial flavors" but no scallops. Those are way too expensive and a gourmet delicacy to waste on cats. That's why you also don't see "Caviar & Lobster" cat food. Basically, this isn't good for animals because it's not really meat at all, but that's what they mfr and there you go.

At Dollar general the same cat food cost $5.95. why is Amazon doubling the price?
