Hoiyen Thai Wolf Laab Namtok Seasoning Mix, 1.06 Ounce (Pack of 10)

Laab is absolutely one of my favorite Thai dishes and I ALWAYS order it if it's on the menu. This spice pack is AMAZING. It has a slow heat that grows on you. It might be a little too spicy for wimps but I love spicy food so I was in heaven. The package recommends 300 grams of ground chicken or other meat of your choice. I'm not sure how much 300 grams is but I used 1 packet for about 1 pound of ground chicken and it was perfect. It's super easy to make. Saute your meat in 1/4 cup of water (Look Ma! No fat!), then once it's cooked add the spice packet. Let it incorporate and then season to taste with fish sauce. Fish sauce can be very strong and funky so start out with a 1/4 teaspoon and work your way up to your preferred taste. I used 1 teaspoon for my 1 pound of chicken and it was great!. Laab is a great spicy, tart, protein for those who are on a low carb diet. It's also a heart-healthy, low-fat dish for those who are watching their weight. You can use this mix on thinly sliced beef (You'll see this listed as 'Beef Salad' sometimes in Thai restaurants), but it would also be good with ground pork. I imagine it would also be tasty on sauteed shrimp though I've never tried it that way before. Also, just so you know chicken laab tastes great in a hard taco shell with a little jalapeno sour cream.

Authentic Thai/Lao flavors. My favorite is tossed with chicken wings, red onion and cilantro.

Delicious and super easy to use. Add your ground meat and chopped green onions, serve it with raw cabbage and rice. Almost like in Thailand.

It's delicious and so simple to make. Great with most any ground meat, we use grd turkey or chicken usually. Add a bit of green onion at end, top over rice. Mint if you have it, we didn't. We used a whole pound of meat two different times. Only calls for 300g, but we were glad we did, as it is a bit spicy. Rice tames it some. Also good with side of cottage cheese. YUMMY!!!
