This was the best-priced offering for this scarcely-known tea product.
I had first encountered Cascara as a temporary Starbucks offering, many years ago, in which it was touted as the fruit of the coffee plant. It imparted a somewhat fruity, floral effect to a warm and sweetened coffee drink (it was only available for hot drinks). When the offering disappeared, after a few months, or so, I guess that I forgot about it, over time, but I'm the type to return to my former aesthetic establishments, in personal taste considerations, much like a favorite fragrance from the past is a fond and nagging memory, at times, compelling us to return to the experience, which is what I was trying to reclaim, somewhat, in purchasing this product. Like the Starbucks offering, I'm usually implementing this product as an add-on to other hot drinks that I make (teas), but I haven't gotten around to adding it to a coffee drink, just yet. I don't have refrigeration in my room, accessible well enough, so making fancy milk-inclusive coffee drinks is something that I generally set aside, being my time, for the future, when I'll have my own home appliances. This product tastes great, especially with sweetener. It's a mild dried fruit and floral effect, to a drink; it smells a bit musty, like other dried fruits, although this stuff is really dry and fibrous, as far as dried fruits would go. It's a good investment, in my opinion. I got in to teas, recently, for having a nice electric tea kettle available, and I'd just read an article that convinced me that I should be incorporating tea in to my life, on a daily basis, so I got some tea accessory supplies, for my room, as well as some various tea products. Thanks!

How to Brew it.
Before I continue, I want to clearly state: it does help improve my memory. I drink it first most for my memory and then for the taste. I am 74 years old.The reviewer who brews it by the Qt, drinks the first cup hot, and puts the rest in the refrigerator has the right idea. I had already given this product a five-star rating. I have experimented with ways to brew it. I like coffee and tea both hot and cold. I never use ice; I cool it in the refrigerator.I use an electric percolator. It has always been the only way I make coffee. And it can be used to make good tea. The most important thing I had to adjust to was Not to make this product too strong. I finally realized that if I fill this coffee fruit up to the level markings in the percolator basket, it will make a perfect cup of this tea. The finished product does have a slightly better/sweet tea flavoring. This can be adjusted as well. Simply put a few pieces of dried fruit in the bottom of the coffee pot and the boiling water will take on the taste of the fruit. It can be perfectly blended with the tea to suit you. I like to use four dried prunes.

Damaged package and odd flavor
The package arrived with a hole in it. I made one cup of tea with it and it had an odd flavor. I've purchased this brand for a few years now. Recently it was unavailable so I ordered I different brand. It was more expensive but smelled and tasted much fresher. Similar to how the twin engine brand used to taste and smell for the first couple of years that I purchased it. I'm not sure if this is just a one off or the new normal.

Good flavor addition to coffee
I bought this brand to try due to the organic certification as coffee is very highly sprayed. It's allot in a package for what I'm using it for, but I shared it with a few other health warriors. Coffee cherries are being repurposed from trash to food in baking and as a tea. I add a small about to my coffee brewing. It gives a slightly sweet and tart flavor. I noticed no health benefits in the amount I'm consuming.

Not the whole fruit, basically just the skins. Why is this not returnable? 20 bucks gone?
I have ave things not returnable but still got the credit, why not this one and if it is then how? Possibly I got a bad batch? My bag was just the peels/skins. I could not taste or feel any fruit in my mouth after soaking them in hot water over an hour. I also tried putting them into my oatmeal but the bitterness was noot pleasant.I want someone to either send me a bag of "whole fruit", with the fruit and seeds intact or a bag of the coffee fruit, not just skins, or else a refund.I only give three stars because its so good for you, I'm grateful for what I believe will be a quality product when I receive it. Until then....

A good light pick-me-up.
When I used to live near coffee plantations, I got a taste for the coffee fruit. This was the closest thing I could find to have long distance. It is not the same for sure, but quite a delightful flavor.I drank it mostly when needing an evening pick-me-up, and felt like it gave me what I needed without causing me troubles falling asleep.I didnt take it regularly enough to feel any health benefits, but I know all of the benefits of the fruit and imagine much of that carries over to making a tea with it.It suggests various brew times for different depths of flavor. I found 10 minutes to be the best for my pallet. After brewing, the fruits are soft again and I enjoyed eating a few. Had some flavor, but not delicious. I may start freezing them after making the tea and adding the fruits to snoothies.I wasn't sure what to think of it going in as all reviews I saw were on the extreme ends. Both friends that I had try it said they could take it or leave it. So everyone doesnt have strong feelings!
