Amazing. So useful. would not leave the house without it nowadays.
I bought this as it was recommended to me.Pros:Can be set to auto-spin stopsAs long as you have red pokeballs, it can be set to auto catch known / unknown or both. Catch rate about 50%.Appears to have as high a success rate for catching shinies as manually catching.Catching everything helps you level up and vacuum up stardust quickly.Auto-catch / spin means that you don't have to miss out on play whilst driving. Connect your phone to your ranger, and it will catch / spin for you for the next hour. You can set it to vibrate to let you know it's working, or stay silent so that nobody knows you are secretly playing (if at work, for example).Connect it, and you will keep spinning stops and catching Pokemon even when out Raiding / battling gyms.Battery pack is great if you have an android, but the iPhone adapter that came with it did not work well enough for more than a tiny emergency charge. If your phone takes that attached charger, it will keep you going, no problem.Keyring is really useful, as you can hang the ranger on your finger, or string your phone wrist strap through the keyring to help you keep hold of it (though it works just as well in your pocket).Torch is really useful for when you want to spin a stop at night and there are no streetlights.Cons:There is a limit to the lifespan of the torch. If you drop it constantly, it will stop working.Needs to be reconnected every hourWill only catch with red pokeballs, which means you need to stock up on them. There is no easy way to tell how much charge is left, as the blue power indicator lights do not appear to relate to bars of powerpack charge, just letting you know if the gadget is on or off.Comparison:I also have the watch version of the Gotcha. The Ranger is a Much better option. There is no need to remove anything to charge it - just use the inbuilt USB to charge it. You don't have to worry about it popping apart and getting lost. Battery charge is great, so if you forget to charge it after a day's activity, don't worry. It will keep going. It is much more robust than the watch. The torch is really useful when you want to spin a stop but the streetlights are out. The Ranger is much more reliable than the watch. I have only had to re-connect the Ranger once in 6 months. I have to delete and reconnect the watch every few weeks.

Does exactly what I need it to.
The lack of instructions made it a little confusing for a few minutes, but the menu is simple and intuitive. Only had it 24 hours, but the cords on either side are very snug and removing them without causing damage was impossible. The plastic/silicone that jutted up to allow you to get some grip just peeled right off.The rest feels of good build quality and seems durable. I can see the length of the charging cable causing issues and with no chance of charging it without it dangling from said cable, I can see why many people find the device doesn't charge after a couple of months. I'd recommend investing in a USB extension cable. It does everything the official devices do, without any of the interaction, which is perfect for some. Sleek and discreet for those embarrassed adults.Haven't taken it on the road yet, so can't comment on the battery life yet. But if the capacity is anything to go by, it should do perfectly. Besides, anyone investing in one of these surely has a power bank for their phone. Don't expect to charge your phone much with this. There is a tenancy to turn settings on and off in your pocket, so keep that in mind when you're doing your best to not think about the pokémon and items you're catching.I'm disappointed there is nowhere to store the USB type C adapter as there is for Apples, and I'd like some way to monitor the battery percentage.Despite this being a long list of negatives, it does exactly what it says on the tin. If you're paying for a Pokémon Go peripheral that catches and spins stops for you. You won't be disappointed. If you think you're getting an amazing compass, torch and power bank; you will be.

Does what it says on the tin!
I've given the ranger only 3 stars for now as the first one I had shipped stopped working after 48 hours usage. I am in the process of returning it and ordered a new one which arrived yesterday. In general the device works well. I had no issues with connectivity and the device stayed connected for approx 1 to 2 hours at a time. About the same as I'd get from the Go Plus. The device itself is very basic, feels cheap and I wish it had a way of telling you what the battery life left was. But despite all this, it does what it says on the tin!Just hope this new one that arrived doesn't have the same issue as the last one.

Gotcha
There's always something wrong with these things. my last one, the watch looking one, the screen fell off on day one, button didnt work sometimes and the screen kept staying black but it worked and done what it was meant to at same time I just couldn't see anything on screen. Eventually it stopped working I requested to send it back but it started working again and then great luck it completely stopped working just after the 30 days, it don't turn on at all now.Now this one was great for about 3 days but recently it just keeps disconnecting. It stays on for about 10-20 mins and then I have to reconnect it on the Pokemon go app. So I'm going to learn from last time I think and send this one back for a replacement before the 30 days because there is definitely an issue going on here with the Bluetooth receiver inside the gotcha. But I would like to add I do like this version of it better than the wrist one, for the reason that it can not be removed, having to push it into the wrist strap is what caused the screen to fall off last one. The battery lasts long. I used the torch once in my room in the dark once, I don't think I'll ever use the compass but regardless I prefer this one over the other. Just a shame that once again I'm having issues with it.
