Is it easy to set up the timer?

Yes. The 4/8/12/18 hour timing function have corresponding color indicators:. Red for 4 hours. Green for 8 hours. Blue for 12 hours. Orange for 18 hours. Absolutely Easy & Convenient to operate.

Will the light stay on all the time if you do not set the timmer?

The lamp will stay on as long as you don't turn it off, but we recommend not leaving the bonsai plant light on 24 hrs a day, because it will be bad for your plants. This LED low light is Upgraded designed with a 4/8/12/18 Hrs timer mode, which is enough to give your plants enough light.

Does this have a dimmer (varying brightness intensities) option?

YES. This grow light has 5 brightness settings (20%-40%-60%-80%-100%) to meet the lighting requirements of each plant at different stages, without worrying about burning out your plants.

Does it always have to be plugged in?

It uses a USB brick for power (no batteries if that's the question), so yes, it must be plugged in to work.

This is just the grow light that I have been looking for. I have a plant that acts like it wants to die and Google says it isn't getting enough light. So, this grow light has been perfect for it! I am impressed with the functionality of it, the look of it is perfect in my sunroom, and it is a very stable light as it stays where I want it to shine. I haven't used the timer on it yet, so I don't know how it works. This light has been a good value for my money and I encourage others to buy one.

Exactly as described. What I love most about this one is you set the timer 1x and it automatically turns on for you the next time. I have mine set to run 7pm for 3 hours. Each night, at 7pm, it turns on. Perfect! I placed it in my windowless bathroom. Plants are happy & I get a nightlight.

The light works perfectly fine, size is accurate according the description and the cord length was ok. Is not really heavy, and easy to set up in your plant (you just need to follow the instructions which are really easy to follow). The only bad thing that I could say, is the durability. I bought it back in September and the timer is not working, along with that the light is flickering. So, I need to buy a new one. So far, it was good while it last.
