I've had it for almost a year now and it has turned out to be the perfect solution for the small space that we have. With that being said, this unit is not small. It just fits perfectly for our limited space!! Putting it together was easy. The directions are clear. I put it together by myself in an hour. Although, it would go even faster having two people. It's easy to move and adjust the length in the middle. It has turned out to be very sturdy. I don't have it attached to the wall because I haven't needed to. Review: Stable and Sturdy - I live in a house that is over 100 years old and has very small almost non existant closets. I bought this for my very small BR because I was tired of my clothing being so crammed into the closet that I could barely find things. It went together very easily, though I do have a lot of experience putting stuff together, less than 30 min to be done putting it together and start putting clothing on it. I used fabric crates that I had to put on each shelf to seperate clothing. The plastic shelf liners are nice, but had to remove for the crates as each time you pull one out and put it back, it messed up the liner. This fit all of my husbands clothes except for his good suit and most of my clothes except for dresses and those things went in our 26 inch wide closet. My folded shirts and sweat shirt are in the remaining chest of drawers, which was overstuffed and now has plenty of room. It was stable enough that I did not feel I needed to use the wall mounting hardware. I would use it if you have toddlers though. It also arrived 2 days before expected which made me very happy. I was able to carry it in the house by myself, so not too heavy, well marked parts. I got the bronze one, was a little disappointed that the hanging rods were chrome though. Also their is not enough room to space the rods to avoid longer shirts and stuff overlapping, but I had that in my other cloest too. If you need extra closet space, I would highly recommend this product, would be great to add to a walk in closet too, without the very high cost of custom closet products. I will likely end up buying another for the laundry room...plenty of hanging space and plenty of storage for things like soap, extra supplies, your iron, etc. You can not go wrong with this. The width is limited by the clothes rods. There is a maximum width that the clothes rod will expand. If you eliminate the clothes rods, then you have 2 free standing units with each having that weird top shelf. I order these so that I can make 2 tall shelving units with 4 shelves. I don't use the clothes rod or the top (longer) shelves. Then I have ordered wheels, so that they can be rolled around. I use one in a closet to hold tools and the other I use to hold pots and pans in a corner of the kitchen. By ordering this closet unit, I wind up paying less than if I bought 2 of the tall shelving units separately. Wish I would’ve found it sooner! *by B***1 on December 9, 2020* No closets in this new apartment and needed a place to hang my clothes, purses and extra space to place shoes and makeup would be a plus, I found it all in this unit. Let’s start at the beginning... Firstly...incredibly easy to put together once you get started, I would definitely suggest 2 people for the job. Secondly...the ability to extend or minimize the length of this organizer makes me believe that I don’t have enough clothes and I need to buy more. Thirdly, unit comes with zip ties to anchor to the wall for sturdiness, however a drill is necessary to pierce the wall in order to latch. However, I do not have a drill, yet this organizer has not tipped over (even though my floor is completely uneven). I believe it to be very sturdy. My only issues is that once fully extended, despite not having much weight hanging on the clothing rods, they do bend when fully extended, making me fear that it’ll permanently bend that way. Shelving space is awesome, I am even thinking of buying hooks to attach to the outside of the unit on either side so that I can hang long coats and robes. Would buy again.
