Nice looking and a good beginers kit, but damaged
I got this for my wifeโs birthday and it came as if used, it has damage in two spots. 1 yellow mark and one chip of the finish. Iโm trying to decide what to do about this.

Great first guitar as far as I'm concerned.
As is probably obvious from the fact that I'm cheaping out on this value pack of all things, I am nowhere near a guitarist. Sure, I play keytar/synthesizer as a major hobby, but this is my first time really picking up a stringed instrument. So take my opinion with a grain of salt or whatever. Anyways, this thing is super fun. Don't get me wrong, I can't play it anywhere close to well, but that's no fault of the instrument. All I really had to do to get it going was tune the strings and plug it in, and then I could just do whatever. Letting the entire house know you suck has never been easier. Granted, the strings buzz a lot if you don't hold them down right and playing it hurts your fingers like hell, but the former is likely an issue of technique and the other is reportedly supposed to get better once you've been playing for a bit longer. Now, onto the warnings/recommendations. Number one; if you're looking to get this for a young child, you should probably look for an acoustic guitar (or at least teach them how to use the amp first). If you have this thing plugged in and you've never used an amp before, I pray for you. Start by setting the volume on both the amp and the guitar to 1, and go from there. And especially don't touch the drive switch if you already have the volume really high. It will, under no circumstances, all be sunshine and rainbows. Number 2, I'd recommend spending a bit of money on better gear. By that, I mean get a better tuner, some nice picks, and a fun pedal or two, plus some patch cables. I got a BOSS Distortion for about $50 on here, and that's what you're looking for if you want a nice, heavy punk rock sound. It's what I wanted, anyway. Have you ever tried using a guitar lead on a synthesizer? No matter what you do, it never sounds like the real thing. Keep in mind that rule number 1 goes double if you decide to get a pedal like mine (i.e. overdrive, distortion, fuzz, that sorta thing). Number 3, don't forget to consult the internet. Just in general. Look up tips and tricks on how to set it up and it'll tell you about ten to twenty things I never mentioned. If you have a problem, somebody else has almost certainly already had it and the answer is up there. Look up some YouTube videos on how to start once you're all set up and you've managed to stop playing with the whammy bar. You could probably just learn how to play through nothing but online tutorials if you're clever enough. It worked for me. Such is the power of the information superhighway. Anyways, that's pretty much all I have to say. Have fun, and please learn something other than Smoke On The Water or Free Bird.

Great price
Great set for beginners. The price was excellent for everything in. Great shipping tome and packaging. Looks amazing, only gave 4 stars because it's a xmas gift so haven't heard the actual sound yet.
