I made the package per the instructions by adding boiling water, letting it sit for 5 mins, stir and then let sit another 4 minutes. The Chili Mac came out fairly chewy, or very al dente, which is what I love. The consistency is the best part. Flavor is pretty good and tasted fresh enough, but it was a touch too sweet. I like my savory food to be savory, not sweet. Maybe 1/4-1/2 teaspoon too much sugar. This was purchased for a go-bag. The price is a little high, but the shelf life is amazing, so in comparison to other go-bag food, the Chili Mac definitely has its place. Having to add water is a bit of a drawback on the go, especially because the instructions want hot water, but it only requires 1 1/2 cup and MRE heaters are pretty good. I did not try adding room temperature water and doubling the time it sits. Review: Not one of Mountain House's best entrees (pretty sure the beef stew or stroganoff are the best).
