3.5mm analog input "not working" information
Not a flaw, just an operational clarification. The 3.5mm input jack can only embed/encode/inject an analog audio signal into the HDMI output when an HDMI signal is present at its HDMI input. This info is not in any manual that I could find. This unit works great and gives me the versatility I need for stripping audio from the HDMI input and manipulating it with analog equipment.

Combines Audio to HDMI for Kareokee
This worked great and saved me hundreds on a custom wiring setup to reach my media cabinet in the other room. Getting the dim settings correct isn't clear at all but I got them right the first time so maybe it is or I got lucky.

Best HDMI audio video extractor/embedder of two brands I tried
Useful when needing to separate the video from audio for karaoke from a laptop to a sound mixer then embedding both before going to a tv/sound system. Also acts as a repeater when using a HDMI cable longer that 15 ft. for an improved signal. The only problem with this unit is the signal is occasionally glitchy, but itโs the only option I can find which makes it tolerable.

Works as advertised to embed the S/PDIF stream from production gear into the HDMI out from my DAW
About to start using for my YouTube/Twitch.tv channels. The embedding works fine as long as you pay attention to the DIPs. Also my computer started out in an odd 1380 resolution or something which my TV could do but not the upstream gear (an AverMedia device) until I switched the resolution at the computer to HD (for now) 1080p and soon to 4k.

UPDATE: IT'S TRASH
UPDATE: It seemed to work alright for a couple months, then started dropping the signal and now will not sync with my PC's 4K60Hz output (only getting chromatic noise output). Can't return it now, and that warranty so far seems pretty useless considering no one at gofanco is getting back to me. Seems like it's just another piece of junk from China after all. Pass on it. You can find better solutions for audio extraction and embedding. OLD REVIEW: I used this thing to embed a 4K60Hz video output from my workstation computer with a Toslink output from the same computer's internal DAC, then ran that signal into an HDMI switch that has a bunch of other audio-capable devices attached. Initially, I did not configure the dip package on the input, so of course, no embedding occurred by default. After reading the manual and flipping the necessary switches, it now does exactly what I wanted it to do: 4K60Hz HDMI input + Toslink 2channel audio input -> 4K60Hz video with embedded digital 2Ch audio via single HDMI output. Going by to these reviews, either I'm lucky and managed to receive a rare functional unit, or as I'm pretty sure is the real reason, some people just don't know how to validate their setups or read docs. I did see someone else complaining about 5.1 overt optical having some kind of delay (I wouldn't know), but 2-channel is perfectly synchronized with no measurable delay. Is it durable? How long will it last? It's made in China, so either that's your answer or the start of another question.

Audio extractor for HDMI -- and doing it well
I needed a RELIABLE audio extractor for my crestron-based endpoint. My previous unit (from Monoprice) went up in smoke, so I was looking for a device from reputable vendor. I use several Gofanco products, and they all were good. Unlike most other products which are generic white-labelled products made for various resellers, this device looks like genuine Gofanco product. This particular device has many additional functions (like audio embedding) which I didn't test. But as for the functionality I needed (extract two channel audio from HDMI stream), it delivered exactly that. It passes HDCP (both 1.4 and 2.0) and EDID up to 4K60p 4.2.2 right through. In case (like mine) you do not need HDMI video out, you would need a plug simulating a display like this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079K3CQRT/ or this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074FT1P8M -- both worked well. This device may cost more than other similar units -- but you are getting what you are paying for.

Solid build, extractor works a treat, shame embedder doesnโt
Looks good build quality, metal enclosure and not cheap/flimsy. Works well as extractor and picture, unfortunately I bought it for the embedding audio feature and no matter the EDID (tried correct setup by manual and all other variations too), the embedder just emitted a loud static tone so not fit for my purposes.
