They make you think beyond the basic definition and experiment with how the roots are hidden in our English words. The crossword puzzles are a challenge for his grade level...I even got stumped a couple times (though I don't like crossword puzzles AT ALL). This is the best way to learn since he needs to research things for himself. The work doesn't take long each day, and we reinforce with other products. We use Book Shark readers and read-alouds, the Paperback and Word Jam card games, and the Carson Dellosa Education Grammar workbook for grades 7-8. Review: Just the right approacj - This is perfect - introduces the word roots with explanations that are clear and focused, and the following pages are challenging enough for my upper level learners but not overwhelming for my struggling learners. I can pick and choose which activities or assignments to use, and I know my students are receiving a good foundation of vocabulary expansion for the future.
