Solidly Made, but Loud and with Limited Applications
Bought this helmet light mount to attach the SureFire HL1-C-TN to a Petzl Vertx helmet. This mount will work for that, but not well. I was disappointed that this mount has very limited applicability, and a weak attachment system.The mount attaches to the helmet using two tiny (~2mm) set screws, tightened with the included allen key (a nice touch). Problem is that the only two points of tension on this mount are the tips of those two tiny screws. If you were attaching this mount to a metal helmet, or even a kevlar helmet, you could really tighten down on the set screws and obtain a good lock on the helmet. For a plastic helmet, you would punch the set screws through the helmet before you achieved a good lock.I attempted to use this for some light duty work, but I ultimately felt I could not trust it, and sold the mount and headlamp on eBay.On a positive note, the mount is well made, as you would expect from SureFire. Though plastic, it evokes Glock Polymer more than Nerf plastic--this mount seems pretty sturdy even if it's attachment system disappoints for some applications. The the HL1-C-TN helmet light attaches positively and securely. Ratcheting action is also positive, and I doubt it would ever change angles without a purposeful input from the user. The ratcheting is loud, however.

The price seems high, but it's OEM and works great.

Time to up grade
WOW, what an improvement! I got mine when they first came out and used it in the sandbox. I am went to put it on a helmet again, but the original clamp broke. So I replaced it with this one and I have to say what a difference. Evolutions defiantly made this item more useful.
