Kept the sun out of my eyes and off my neck and upper back. I always seem to burn no matter what I do on the back of my neck and upper shoulders. But this hat was great for covering up that area. Easy to roll the flap up and tuck it into the little compartment on the back of the hat and no one knows it's there. Would highly recommend if you want something that is comfortable and cool but covers that areas that other brimmed hats do not.
