Ugears Bike VM-02

It's frustrating and fiddly at times, so be prepared to have your nerves rattled a little! The components are accurately cut and well fitting - sometimes a little too well fitting, but nothing that a quick waft with the included sandpaper couldn't fix. The instructions are pretty good too, although one or two of the illustrations had me scratching my head for a couple of minutes until I figured it out. If you're patient and study the illustrations before assembling anything, the end result looks great! I wouldn't say that this is a model to have racing around your kitchen, but the mechanics side is very cool indeed. All-in-all this is a great model. I thoroughly enjoyed making it and lost quite a few hours engrossed in my endeavours. In fact I was so impressed with the quality, ingenuity and downright fun of it, I've just ordered the roadster! If you buy it, you'll enjoy it .... good luck!

***** Love it. I recently finish my second model from Ugears – and I am very excited about it. Very impressive and good looking motorcycle. Made of plywood, all parts are laser cut and assembled without glue using toothpicks and joints. Parts are simply squeezed out, but it is better to cut the gaps on which they keep from falling out of the board, with a knife or scalpel. For beginner model may seem difficult I think, but the result is impressive. This bike looks very cool, and rides itself from the wound rubber bands. I recommend to pay special attention to the assembly of the gas tank, it is quite difficult to assemble, also the front ‘suspension’, it fits tight to the frame. And most important, the small details of the gears under a black rubber band were another challenge, at least for me :) In general, an interesting and beautiful model, and most importantly not static, but mechanically working, even improvised pistons are moving in cylinders. Highly recommend, the product is worth all its money.

Pros - easy to follow instructions; a challenging build but a relaxing, enjoyable activity; it looks great; it works! Cons - a few extra tools were essential: (i) a craft knife to help remove the parts and avoid sore fingers; (ii) pliers to help press the parts together (two "locking nuts" were so tight to locate, they splintered); (iii) superglue for the occasional break/splinter. Very good value for money. I am a retired female and this was my second wooden model - it took me about 6 hours. It looks great. When finished one small tweak was required to get it working (I had to very slightly loosen the side panels as a cog was catching). Have ordered more models.

So where do I start. This is a fantastic model set which will not only provide great satisfaction once completed but also great frustration whilst building 😀. The model it self looks amazing but is really challenging at times. Now I have completed this one I have learnt my ways to make the build slightly easier for future models. The model is held together with toothpicks and interlocking each piece. The holes for the toothpicks are very tight and even with using the wax you feel that you could snap the toothpick if you push a little hard. Towards the end of the build I started sanding down the toothpicks slightly which helped. I have marked it down to a four start due to the frustration factor but it's great value for money and I highly recommend buying on.

Spent a good 5-6 hours or so building this over Boxing Day whilst the family chilled out watching tv. I was looking forward to it and made sure to have a A3 modelling mat, side clippers, file set and Stanley knife. Had a tea candle on standby for the wax. Model comes with a square of sand paper and small tube of wax which I was not expecting so bonus points there. Took time to build carefully and enjoyed every minute apart from the ones that involved manipulating an elastic band. A set of smaller fingers would be useful... This was my first model build from the UGears range and my first build since my younger years building Lego. Looking forward to next model which is the roadster.

I bought this as an 80th birthday present for a motorbike enthusiast, and I am delighted with the look of it and I’m sure it will give a lot of pleasure to the recipient … Many thanks

I have completed cheaper kits in the past and been frustrated by poorly cut parts that don't fit together properly. None of that here. The parts are cut very accurately and fit together very precisely. Because of that I found making this kit very satisfying. The finished item makes a nice display piece. I did make it up with the elastic bands to operate as a wind up model but I am not convinced that it works too well or that the system will last beyond a few uses, more down to my assembly skills as to anything to do with the design or components. Worth the price compared to cheaper kits from other manufacturers.

Was near 1/2 price of other retailers & arrived within 36hrs, perfect, can't ask for anymore.

This was my first U-Gear Model...It takes me to the flashback with my childhood days...After such a long time found something very interesting in Toy Category...Loved to assemble this model...Will definitely try other models or U-Gear...Each & Every part fixed at its place perfectly. One should try atleast one model of U-Gear. I feel price is a bit high.

I finally got around to putting it together. I would buy from this manufacturer again for sure!!! Instructions were great. This was my first 3D puzzles. I recommend sand where needed, use lots of wax and pay very close attention to the Instructions, they are very clear. I made a mistake here and there but completely my mistake. This is an easy puzzle to do and it looks awesome!!!
