I love the way it leaves my face feeling. You only need a very small amount, this helps to offset the price. I you look at different reviews you will see The Art of Shaving products recommended on most sites. I use the complete “The Art of Shaving “ system and I get the closest most comfortable shave I have ever had, I’m 65 so I have shaved a few times in my life, I will never use anything else. The price is steep., but you will be amazed at how small amount of the products you use each time. Review: Worthwhile Indulgence: Smooth, Non-Greasy Balm, with Awesome Sandalwood Scent - I'm really glad I treated myself to this After-Shave Balm. Obviously, it's not the cheapest option. But after a couple of uses, I was convinced it was worth every penny. The word "Balm" had me wondering. How thick is it, like a paste, or what? I needn't have worried. This ivory colored balm is about the thickness of any typical hand or face lotion -- maybe a bit thinner, actually. It's very, very smooth, and absorbs into the skin immediately, leaving behind only softer skin. Not a trace of oiliness or greasiness. My skin feels nicely moisturized for quite a while after use. And -- good news if you're wondering about value for money -- it's like the old time hair tonic slogan: "A little dab will do ya." Just a couple of pumps on the dispenser, a couple of dollops on your palm, is all you need. But it's the scent that's got me using it every day, whether I shave or not. I'm a big "Sandalwood" fan. I use quotes because actual sandalwood is very rare and expensive, and there's rarely even a trace of it in products using that word, and that's fine by me -- I usually like the smell of whatever the various other makers come up with to try and imitate sandalwood. But this The Art of Shaving balm uses pure sandalwood essential oil, along with shea butter and grapeseed extract. It's a subtle, earthy, completely non-perfumey scent -- I love it. Just one issue: the very small pump dispenser on my bottle tends to stick in the down position, I have to pop it back up with my thumb to get another dollop. No biggie. And be aware, this fine elixir comes in an actual glass bottle, so you're going to want to be careful using it around tile and porcelain.

As always a good product.
Smells great and goes on without any residual oily feeling. The smell is subtle but long lasting. I’m buying another bottle soon.

Smells amazing and works on sensitive skin
Bought this for my husband because of it's "romance novel-worthy scent", but he likes it for the way it leaves his skin after a shave. He has uber-sensitive skin on his face and this balm doesn't irritate his skin. Leaves it soft. It does seem expensive, but the after shave balm ticks all the boxes for how it soothes and smells. My husband doesn't have to use very much so the small bottle lasts and lasts. Treat yourself!

I use it daily.
Quality facial moisturizer with a mildly exotic scent. A little extravagantly priced, but well worth the investment in yourself!

This is a good product, but I couldn't quite give it five ...
This is a good product, but I couldn't quite give it five stars based entirely on my personal tastes. I should start by saying I think the AoS Sandalwood after-shave balm is a 5 star product. The lavender balm has a slightly too citrus-y and light scent to me. I don't think it's a bad scent at all, but it's just not as earthy as I normally use. There was also a very slight consistency difference. The Lavender balm seemed to be just a touch more fluid than the Sandalwood was. I can't think of why that would be, so it's possible it was just a fluke. That being said, this is a great balm. A little bit goes a long way, so you don't need to apply a lot. It doesn't feel thick of heavy, but leaves your skin soft and supple. Like all AoS balms, this is good for sensitive or alcohol-intolerant skin. And the scent is not overpowering. There is a legitimate question of whether a balm is worth $40, and that's hard to answer. From a pure performance perspective, you can buy much cheaper balms that will perform almost as well if not just as well. There is definitely a premium mark up for AoS products. On the other hand, AoS scents are among the best in the business. Whether this is a good value proposition depends a lot on whether you care a great deal about the scent.

Does more than sooth...and can be used by anyone!
EXCELLENT product! I am a female with sensitive skin. I went into my dermatologist's office because I had an allergic reaction to the eyebrow wax my beautician used. Even after 24 hours the reaction was horrible. My Dermatologist recommended this product. I have to admit I was a skeptical, but this balm calmed down my skin, made the itching go away, and made it better within an hour after application. It was AMAZING! My Dermatologist said that I could use it every day even though I do not shave. I realize it is for men who shave, and that I am not using it for (probably) what it is supposed to be used for, but it really helps soothe sensitive skin and nourishes it. I will continue to use it. I love it!

Absolutely the best fragrance free after shave on the market.
I’ve used dozens of fragrance free after shave products over the years, none with the soothing and lasting qualities I was searching for. I saw this product on Amazon while searching for a new fragrance free after shave product and like what I read and decided to give it a try. Bingo! Finally, a product that does everything it claims and then some. Only the recommended amount works wonders on my sensitive skin. I highly recommend this wonderful product.

Do I wish it was cheaper, yes. For 100ml bottle it looks small bottle. But I do enjoy using this. Beautiful and enjoyable.

Expensive but worth the money. Lasts a long time as only two drops are required. Very smoothing after a shave. Scent goes on strong but fades quickly. Very satisfying and solves scent issues for those weak knead complainers.
