Is your stomach sensitive to sugar alcohols? I didn’t know mine was until my doc got me on protein supplements. I was stoked to find a vegan protein bar that legit tasted like a candybar (rhymes with “hissfit”)…until a few hours later.Horrific gas. Thank god I work out at home, bc a gym woulda thrown out my stankbomb self. All that to say: turns out sugar alcohols (like mannitol, erythritol, other -tols) aren’t digestible by most people and produce copious amounts of sulfurous gas. FUN 🙃Was that TMI? Yes. But I hope it convinced you why it’s such a big deal that TruBar has NO SUGAR ALCOHOLS! For 190 cals and 12g of protein, these are awesome as post-workout or nighttime snacks. I’ve tried the ‘Donuts’, ‘Cookie Dough’, ‘Cocoa Coconut”, and “Cookies & Cream” flavors so far: all have a pleasant texture. They’re soft instead of hard and chalky, no taffy-like consistency of the old-school Powerbars. I tend toward the “dipped” or “frosted” flavors since I unashamedly love sweet stuff, but no one would mistake a TruBar for candy.The “Cocoa Coconut” flavor has coconut flakes and legit reminds me of a mounds bar. The two cookie flavors I’ve tried taste the most proteinaceous. The frosted “Donut” flavor is the one that initially hooked me on TruBar: the frosting cancels out the taste of vegan protein powder.Do I wish they were cheaper? Ofc; but I don’t mind paying more for a vegan protein bar (made by a woman-owned company!) that tastes good, helps me meet my protein goals and doesn’t have any negative impact on my digestion. 100% worth the price. Without supplementation and exercise, women lose 1-2% of our muscle mass every decade after 40; TruBar is an easy way to get the protein we need without surplus calories or terrible gas. Looking forward to trying other flavors!

Okay I finally decided to order this and soooo happy I did. The Trubar flavors all have a very mild taste to them and I read on someone review that it needed more coconut. I love coconut even if its mild. These definitely have coconut in them enough to satisfy my taste buds. My favorite flavor so far with strawberry one placing second and cookie dough placing 3rd. And the PB&J placing last because my taste buds just don't pick up on the pb&j. But these coconut do taste like a macaroon. Put them in the fridge. The strawberry is a hint of strawberry again nothing overly sweet but you can taste it

This does not have a strong coconut taste, but it is quite good. It kind of tastes like a Bit O Honey candy with coconut. It is filling despite it not being that big. I look forward to trying the other flavors. The texture is chewy, but not stick to your teeth chewy.

This bars are pretty good! I have tried all of their flavors and my favorite by far is the Cocoa for coconuts! It's delicious you feel like you are having a dessert instead of a protein bar! The strawberry shorty got cake is good as well it has tiny crunchy pieces in the bar. The shake it bake it birthday cake is good as well it has sprinkles on the outside of the bar. It looks very festive and pretty. My least favorite is the Sweet & dream my cookies and creamy. These are so delicious. Not too sweet, more fiber than sugar - which I appreciate, no sugar alcohols, the protein is on point and the flavors are great. The texture is like fluffy chewy caramel - so much better than most other protein bars. My stomach doesn’t feel like I just ate a brick, I’m buying more ASAP.

I see Bethany Frankel do a taste test on these and she loved them. So I took a chance and ordered some.They are very good. No aftertaste at all.They are small, but very dense so I eat half now and half later.Love the amount of fiber and low sugar!

I love the Trubar brand because they taste yummy and they don't give me any intestinal distress. In fact, I bought a box for my son - who shares similar intestinal issues - and he said the same thing!

These are very tasty, not too sweet like a lot of energy bars. The chocolate coating is a little greasy feeling but it's not bad, just beware and have a napkin handy. They don't really taste much like coconut, and the only real coconut they have is two or three tiny flakes of coconut on the top, which is inevitably rubbed off during shipping. Other than that they do taste pretty good, just not as expected. Oh, and the chocolate coating tends to get melted somewhat during shipping so occasionally the bars will have more chocolate on one end than the other. I still buy them, though.
