SHANGRI-LA Canvas Tote Handbag Casual Purse Shoulder Bag for Women Convertible Backpack

I am a mom transitioning from diaper bag to a purse that can still handle snacks and sippy cups. This bag seems perfect for quickly transitioning to whatever I need while still having enough space for everything I need. I have had this bag for almost a month and so glad I bought it. In my mind the pros outweigh the cons, but I have them here for others to consider. Pros: the bag continues to stay upright when becoming a backpack. The transition between shoulder bag to backpack is easy. There's a divider pocket that make it easier to seperate sippy cups from your wallet and items you don't wish to get accidently wet like masks or tissue. The canvas material is study, but not scratchy It looks really cute and I've gotten a lot of compliments Cons: the zippers catch on the material and do not zip as smoothly as I would like. I put my car keys in the front zipper and my phone in the back zipper pocket so I use them a lot. The strap that flips over the top is magnetic only to the other side and is more of a hindrance. When transitioning from backpack to shoulder mode, the straps get tangled easily. This is something that really bothers me, but I don't see an easy solution given the design of the bag. I did take off a star on versatility because of this reason. When in purse form the opening isn't as big as other bags and I've seen other reviews state this, but it is not something that upsets me much. There's 2 zipper pouches on one side of the bag and the second zipper pouch is not flat against the bag, especially if something is in it. There are many times when I've dug around without looking to realize I was in a wrong area of the purse. Minor inconvenience because I'd rather have the 2 inner zipper pouches than not, but someone might not like that.

Just got it last night. About to exchange all my items into this one and I'm so excited to use it! It does feel a little bulky as a backpack upon first getting it. I'm hoping that once It's packed full and used for a bit that it will break down enough where it won't feel as noticable, yet still be a sturdy bag. Zippers & magnets seem to be made with high quality materials. The fabric is knapsack like. I love it. I had recently made a spur of the moment purchase of a travel backpack that has a strap to attach to your luggage handle. It was adorable in a rose gold, which is one of my favorite accessory colors (already have a watch, shoes, phone case in this color), but too small. It barely fit my 11-inch MacBook Air (technically the pocket was for a tablet, but this is all I have, and quite petite already), and the luggage strap was too small to fit onto my luggage handle. That was one of the reasons I bought it, so big downfall for me there. Yet, I decided to keep it, because it was cute (I'm a sucker for superficial appearances). I should mention I was using a classic black Coach purse, but have been over it and wanting a backpack style purse. So this kind of fit my "wants," yet didn't fit the "need" I purchased it for. Then I saw my coworker with this tote/backpack convertible style backpack and it seemed perfect. I looked at the one she got and just kinda sat there (one of those Chinese websites that keep popping up) not purchasing. Then I decided to search for it on Amazon and purchased it right away (much cheaper than my original in Rose Gold). I have more to tell in my story, but I'm just rambling. So to sum it all up... Great bag right off the bat. Cannot wait to use it. I saved money! Update: After a couple uses there are a few dislikes I have noted. The straps make it difficult to widen the purse enough to really get in and dig around. The zipper pouch/pocket is floppy. Since there is not sturdiness to it, the pocket without the zipper doesn't effectively hold anything. Overall I'm still so, so happy about this purse, and am thankful for two inner zippered pockets.

Love this purse! It holds plenty without being huge. I don’t usually carry my iPad so the extra divided section comes in handy for other items. There are 2 drawbacks: 1. The dividers for the sections do not attach to the bottom of the purse. So everything moves anyway. 2. Why do they use black or dark fabric for linings?? This has a dark brown liner. It’s not bad quality, just dark. The purse is lightweight and durable. It is a perfect size. I also use the back pocket for concealed carry. I am very happy with this purchase. UPDATE: The strap that goes over the top buckles down. But I didn’t realize that there was a magnetic closure on the other end. So I have lost the strap. Be careful if you unbuckle it.

I bought this purse (which I have a major purse addiction!) several months ago, I'd say aprox 5. I've been using this purse since the day I received it. It arrived very quickly, it's a very nice canvas, strong well made. However it's not stiff feeling, soft. It is very well made. There are 2 zipper pockets on either side of the outside of the purse, great for keys, phone or any other items you may want to have easy access too. Inside there is one zipper pocket against the "wall" of the purse, then there is an open pocket with another zipper pocket (all "on top" of each other, best way I can describe it) there is alot of room inside of the purse, it does have 2 sections, one smaller then the other. There is a piece of velcro that keeps the separater together. In the bigger of the 2 sections there is plenty of room. Even on the other side in the "smaller" section it is still pretty roomy. This bag definitely is very well made and sturdy. I plan on buying another in another color. *I bought the black one. Good buy forsure.

I thought this bag would be flimsy because of the low price, but it feels solid and well made. I was able to put all of my regular purse things in it and had plenty of room for my tablet. There is a special pouch for tablets, with a little padding. My Surface Pro fits even when it is in its case. I love the look of this purse, I bought the olive green. I like that you just slide the handles over to make it a backpack, you don't have to reconfigure things. When it's in backpack "mode" the top is drawn together, so someone shouldn't be able to reach in and take something out. It's a tiny bit heavy as a purse, but really lightweight for a backpack (if that makes sense). Since I just received the bag, I haven't traveled with it yet. I'm very happy with my purchase and I will update if things change. UPDATE: I've had this bag for two years now and it's my absolute FAVORITE! It is still sturdy and in great shape. I've used it for my "personal item" while traveling because it holds so much stuff. I've used the backpack mode a few times too. A friend loved it so much, she commented every time she saw it. I finally got the *hint* and bought her one (different color) for her birthday. I can't wait to give it to her.

I love the looks of this bag and the quality of the materials seems decent. Unfortunately there are a few design problems that will keep this from being my daily go-to bag, though. I walk everywhere and I'm the kind of person who needs to grab certain things from my bag many many times a day -- wallet, a pen, lip balm, hand cream, etc. The ideal bag for me is one that lets me remove and return these items without having to use two hands. On this bag, the exterior pockets were a big selling point. Once I received it, I realized that the way the straps are designed, the inside of the bag can not be easily accessed unless you take it off your shoulder, which makes those exterior pockets even more critical. BUT, ALAS: -- The outside pockets are really inconveniently placed for someone who carries the bag on the right shoulder. Carrying this bag on my right, the pockets fall closer to my back, so I can't unzip the exterior pockets without taking the bag off my shoulder. If the pockets were on the opposite side of the center strap, this bag would become MUCH more practical. -- The exterior pockets are lined. Or maybe they're actually created from that lining, not quite sure yet. What I do know is I used the bag for less than a week and one of the exterior pockets is unusable already, due to its lining getting pulled up into the zipper. That zipper is not budging in either direction, and at this point if I want to use that pocket (assuming I can get the zipper open at some point) I'll have to see if there's a way to hack it into functionality. I don't know why they didn't anticipate zippers getting caught on the loose pocket-lining fabric inside. Seems it would have been easy enough to secure the fabric somehow near the zipper, but I guess this one of the reasons this bag is inexpensive.

I've had this bag for almost two months. I purchased it before going on a two-week road trip and have since used it as my main purse/bag for just about everything. I bought it in the blue and I love that it looks kind of like denim so it goes with about everything. I love that it is a color other than black, which is what I usually wear, but is still pretty neutral. The fact that it can transform from a shoulder bag to a backpack with a quick cinch is honestly dream bag goals for me. I've always carried either a tote bag or backpack and with this I don't have to transfer my items from one bag to another and inevitably forget or lose items. It's also super roomy without being bulky. I can fit my 13-inch laptop and iPad both inside with plenty of room for my bullet journal, pen pouch, wallet and other essentials. This made it super slick for traveling and I think if I was going to coffee shops to work I would use this as my main bag rather than the full-size backpack I had been using. Highly recommend this bag if you're looking for a versatile, neutral bag.

I really do like this purse. It is well made, the canvas body is not thin or flimsy, and the straps are wide and sturdy. I am one who likes a big purse, I like having a wide opening so I can just look into it, see what I want and grab it. This purse has that. There is also an Ipad/Kindle/small laptop sleeve available inside that uses a velcro strap to keep it closed, nice extra space if needed(or not). The two zippered compartments on the outside are great for keys/chap stick/cell phone/ gum...getting to them quickly without hassle. Magnet snap closures are strong, and last but not least are the straps. I bought this purse originally because I liked the idea of going from over the shoulder to a backpack configuration with ease. I've had a few back surgeries and I prefer backpack purses to distribute the weight evenly over my shoulders as opposed to routinely switching shoulders with a traditional purse( and yes even with cross-body ones). The transition from shoulder carry is ridiculously easy, you pull two straps away from each other,...done ! I also like having my purse on me when I'm shopping as I am always leaving my cart to browse, and always having both arms free (you never really have both arms free when carrying a shoulder purse, face it) !! I am in my fifties and love this purse, wish I'd had it when my kids were younger, as I needed 4 arms free, not just two! Great purse, especially for the price!

I bought this for the versatility of being both a shoulder bag and a back pack style bag. It's nice looking and good quality canvas so it's hard wearing. It also has plenty of pockets to keep things seperate, even a padded sleeve for carrying electronics with screens. Great product and I'd recommend it.

Love the many sections, especially the zippier pockets on the outside for keys, phone etc. The bag can transform to be a backpack which makes life so much easier
