You don’t require any additional adhesives such as glue or tape. PEI is appealing due to its "no-surface-prep" conditions, which make it convenient to work with. Additionally, printing on PEI requires no support rafts as parts adhere directly to the surface with no issue. How To Use. PEI is easily cut to size by scoring with a hobby knife. Once you have laminated your sheet of PEI onto your glass, simply re-level your print bed and print away. Parts should come free from the surface with almost no issue at all. PLA does not require heat, but turning the heated bed up to 45C helps. After the print is done, just let the plate cool down and then gently you can just “pop†the model off the plate. Before each print, wipe your PEI surface down with 70-91% Isopropyl alcohol, to ensure that you wipe away any grease or other residues that may have accumulated on the surface. This will help increase your surface adhesion greatly. It has to be done slowly and carefully but it is possible due to the smoothness of the underside surface, unlike some others I have used. Initially I couldn't get anything to stick to it despite repeatedly cleaning with ipa. Since then I have scuffed the surface with some medium grit sandpaper and now it works very well. A quick wipe with the ipa and everything needs a sharpened scraper to remove, even when cool although I have only used pla and petg so far. I'm going to get some more for my other printer. Also worth considering, my other printer has a different surface which also sticks well but it doesn't have the 3m adhesive layer so it sometimes pulls away from the glass bed.
