Behringer SUPER OCTAVER SO400 Ultimate Octaver Effects Pedal

It's a bit of a curiosity that so many musicians review Behringer pedals favorably but always say how they've read bad reviews but never had that 'bad' experience with their purchase. My Behringer SO400 pedal has worked as well as any octaver padel I've tried. I'm actually amazed at how genuine the bass sound is. I use it with a looper pedal to add bass to my loops during live performances, it adds a completely believable bass sound to my loops. Since I own a nice Fender Jaguar Bass I wouldn't use this for recording, but for what I purchase it for, it's perfect.

These Behringer pedals are a great bang for your buck. The only issue I have with them is that the power adapter is located right near the input jack. If you are using a short angled patch cable you will not be able to route the cable upwards as your AC adapter will be in the way. Otherwise it sounds great.

A decent octave pedal (especially for the price), but I bought it to use with guitar in order to simulate bass guitar on recordings and found it somewhat frustrating to use. Works OK on most low notes, but once you get really low some distortion occurs. Then when you hit higher notes it becomes even less reliable, as you either get distortion or an entirely different note altogether. On the plus side, it does add an interesting effect to guitar soloing. That said, I ended up sending it back.

Great addition in adding some rumble to the bass.Works good on a piano as well.Gives that bottom end in the mix when needed.

It is overall good for guitar. It has a bass input in there but it doesn't handle low-end very well and starts to get really static. I like this for guitar, would not recommend it for bass players

Works great with a guitar, but has trouble tracking notes much lower than a low E. Fun to play with and great for the price.

I love the versitility of this pedal. Sound is awesome! Love how you can set the low strings for octave and leave the high strings normal. Also love the way you can mix 2 octaves.

Octaves down, not up. Not sure why a bass would want to octave down, but hey. You do you. I returned it.

This is fun and can be a really creative tool. Excellent for bass guitar using the separate bass input, and the generated one-down octave tracks well and sounds great particularly when playing higher up the neck. Haven't yet found a use for the 2-octave-down, poly or drive modes, but these may be more suited to non-bass instruments.. DC socket fitted so works on power adaptor- just as well as these Behringer pedals are so awkward and fiddly when it come to changing batteries.

For someone wondering whether they need an octaver on their pedalboard or not this is a great starting point. It gives you an idea of what playing with an octave down sounds like and for single notes definitely does the job. When it comes to 2 notes or more though it can not handle it. Ended up selling this and buying a POG instead after using it to find out that I do want an octaver.

Bought this as I was given a gift token for my birthday. My guitar amp comes with most common effects so I chose this as it was different. I was pleasently surprised as it was really good and quite usefull. You can use it as is with the effect on all strings or with the polly setting, just on the strings you want it to effect so you can use it to give the effect of a bass guitar playing with you. There is also a distortion setting as well and you can adjust all these settings to the amount you wish. The controls feel very well made and although the case is plastic it seems quite sturdy.

18 year old maestro decided he needed this for Xmas - he's chuffed to bits with it - it does everything and more that he wanted and it was a good price too - so we're both happy!

It doesn't really 'octave' like the old analogue ones, it sort of plays a ghost note an octave below.
