Master the Boards USMLE Step 3

I thought the book was wrong, but then I realized I was wrong
As medical students and graduates, we have all used Dr. Conrad Fischer as a source at one point or another. He has consistently provided us with textbooks and lectures to aid in preparation for the USMLE Step 1 and Step 2. With USMLE Step 3, his work continues to be an excellent guide. After completion of approximately 120 pages and using that knowledge to answer questions on UWorld, I have noticed a definite improvement in my average. I will update this review as I approach the end of the book.I am enjoying the style of writing of this textbook. "If-then"-type of statements are effectively utilized throughout the book. This makes it easy to memorize high-yield treatment and management steps. The text is concise and clear, yet mostly written in complete sentences, which is important for me. I don't like the high-yield books with lists, which require absolute memorization. As a result of this book's writing style, a story is formed, which is easier to remember. My only complaint is that there could more details about each condition. However, given that this is focusing primarily on high-yield, it makes sense to keep it concise. It will be best to use one or two other sources as reference if you are less than confident about a particular topic. Aside from this book, I am also using UWorld QBank, OnlineMedEd lectures, and Merck Manual.I must also mention that I was confused about a couple of sentences in the cardiology chapter, which I thought were mistakes. To obtain a list of errata, I contacted Dr. Fischer, who responded right away and was willing to clear up any confusion. It turns out after re-reading the paragraphs and gaining a better understanding of the section, I realized that I was wrong about it being a mistake and the book was right. Anyway, if in doubt, read it again. If you are unable to understand it after that, Dr. Fischer seems to be willing to help us out.

6th Ed Review - pretty good review but it's just that
This is a review on the most recent (6th) edition of this book. MTB is a very condensed review of everything. If you did well on step 2, or if it's still fresh for you, this book will serve as a good review that briefly touches on most topics. Overall a pretty good book but I felt like there was a lot of basic things missing from each chapter. For example, where it talks about headaches there is no mention of tension headaches. Where it talks about tick borne diseases there is no mention of RMSF, and etc. I also felt like there was a lot of repetition. Repetition isn't bad, but there are several parts that are copied and pasted from other parts. Not a bad review book if you need a brief refresher, but don't count on this book to help you ace the exam.

Comprehensive enough
I've bought two of these (one for myself and one for my wife). Definitely amazing if you've been away from medicine for a while. It gets you up to speed on most of the high yield stuff. It is certainly very strong in some areas and also lacks some information in others. My wife and I used this along with Uworld and after a month of studying got scores of 246 and 220.

Perfect for psych residents studying for USMLE step 3
There are not a lot of materials out there that are high yield and helpful for preparing for USMLE step 3. This is definitely one of the books that should be in the standard review in conjunction with a question bank. As a psych resident, I had limited medicine rotations so this was very very helpful for my review and helped me improve my scores on the question banks and ultimately pass step 3.

Excellent and essential book, just use it the proper way
To start with, this is an excellent book and beautifully packed with infos my only advice is that this book treats you as a person who knows or had read about the topic and who is just trying to refresh his mind plus adding up the puzzle pieces together. So if you are reading the topic for the first time you need another book along with this because MTB 3 is a MUST TO HAVE book just use it right ! 👌🏾

Excellent review book for Step 2CK
This is an excellent review book for anyone to sharpen their clinical knowledge, especially in Step 2CK. For the price that it is right now, it is a steal! The Peds chapter is more complete than in MTB Step 2 CK 4th edition. In fact, it was recommended by the Kaplan Chicago faculty, especially for the peds and OBGYN chapters. A smart buy for anyone preparing for step 2CK, and definitely worth reviewing before Step 3!

very difficult to read on Kindle
I downloaded it. Was looking for practice test questions. There seem to be very few of these. So, that is a negative. On my computer, paging through the book is PAINFUL. Slow - followed by overcorrections, then going back, etc. Paging on iPad is Far better - but reading the book on a computer is going to be very annoying, and maybe useless.

Too Basic
Master the Boards USMLE Step 3 is an incredibly cursory glance as to the diagnosis and management of conditions tested on Step 3. The content is lacking with very little mention of importantly tested subjects like urology. Even so, subjects that are described in the book are so lacking in detail and depth that it does not cover important board information like hypoglycemia workup.I can only recommend this book if someone is using it with a QBank and supplements the info but even then be prepared to write almost the entire volume of the book again in the small margins with no free space.

Damaged new book!
The content is good but very disappointed with Amazon! The book is dented in two places and looks used. The first two pages are folded too. Very disappointing!
