Exactly what I expected. good travel banjo
I travel a lot for work. This is perfect for tossing the over head compartment and plunking at the hotel. My band does a lot in c so the high tuning is actually a plus for me.

Great little banjo!
I got this thing the other day because I will be traveling internationally and don't want to take my full scale with me. The size is perfect for a flight.....it should be able to go up into any overhead compartment on the plane no problem (I will try and keep it with me if I can, though). Getting this thing set up took me a while...I had to get help from an expert who tightened the head appropriately and I put a new bridge in and new strings. It sounds really great, but keep in mind that you will be tuning in open C....a whole 5 frets above standard G tuning. The sound is much higher and a little different; it's not bad but you will probably need to get used to the sound. Starting from the 5th string you are tuned in C, G, C, E, G. It's like putting a capo on the 5th fret and adjusting the 5th string accordingly. It's different but you will get used to it. I will try to put some heavier stings on later to see if I can get it sounding a little lower, but overall it's really a good banjo for the price and size. It's perfect for travel and the travel bag that comes with it is nice too.

Tinny and heavy
Very Tinny sounding and VERY Heavy. If you are looking for the warm Rich tones of a real banjo this is not it. It's butt heavy and weighs more than my actual banjo. It is good for traveling due to the size. But to me, as a beginner, the sound is just horrible.

Great Deal
Fun little Banjo. Perfect size to travel with or store in small space. Nice big face, neck not long, which is what I like about this. Beautiful redwood color. Received super fast in perfect condition.

Not a Toy
Adorable, totally enjoyable little banjo. Worked great right out of the box with no set up or adjustments needed. Took it on a trip, and was glad to have it along.

Five Stars
This is a great little travel banjo at a good price. I have mine tuned to open A, and it sounds great.

I really like this little banjo
I really like this little banjo. Its small size really is practical for traveling or camping. I first tuned it like a regular five string in open G, but eventually switched to tuning in the key of C due to intonation problems. Besides tuning in C, I replaced the bridge with a compensated bridge and all the intonation problems then were eliminated. As a final refinement, I replaced the friction fifth string tuner with a geared tuner ( available for under $15 ) to make that fifth string easier to tune. It is now a great little banjo that I really enjoy playing. A few simple changes make a good banjo a great one. Enjoy this little banjo! Dave L.
