This replaced a Terracotta home for a pleco that was getting to big for it. Over night the fish moved out of it's old home and into the new larger cave.

very nice! It’s a nice size for smaller plecos. My lemon Bristlenose pleco is about 5” in size now. She doesn’t go all the way in and has half her tail sticking out then comes out (although to be fair she is not use to caves and likes to hang out under her wood bridge instead) so I don’t know if she likes it. I don’t have a male yet. Maybe males like caves better to lure the females in, LOL! man cave. That being said the inside had a few sharp clay bumps/flaws that needed sanding down because they were sharp. The dark brown is only a tint and not a solid brown color all the way through the clay mix. The cave gets much lighter in the water, almost as light as orange clay pots because it’s just a translucent tint color. The natural base clay color is the orange plant pot pottery clay. I like the grove texture on the outside so it looks more like a natural form of bark cave instead of a manmade boring unnatural cave. Been looking for a natural cave for a while now and this seems to be the only one out there. It blends in better with the decor but the color needs work so it’s a solid brown. To the manufacture... Is the tinted color non toxic? Quality control needs to be better by checking the inside of the caves for sharp clay bumps and sand them soft accordingly. Also not sure what clay dyes can be mixed into pottery clay to make colors but they must be non toxic. If you guys can figure out how make the cave a solid or two tone brown ceramic tunnel using non toxic clay dye... that would be better incase the tunnel needs sanding and or chips or the color rubs off. There must be something out there to dye the clay solid brown before firing the clay. Browns are more natural then orange color clays. Also we need more sizes for bigger plecos. The price would be more reasonable if all these tips were put into place.

It only fits little plecos, I mine are to big to use it. Looked bigger then it is.

The pleco cave looks nice and love the fact that is ceramic and not resin. Pennywise (my clown pleco), has not found it yet since it is brand new, but I can’t wait to see when he does because I know he is going to dig his new hide!!
