## Description

desertcart.com : Raven Concealment Systems Black Vanguard VG2 Compatible with Glock 42/43, Inside Waistband (IWB) Appendix Conceal Carry with Tuckable Holster, Naked Trigger Guard Profile | VG2G42/43BKOH-FBM : Sports & Outdoors

Review: Perfect low profile holster - Slide thickness, grip length, weight... All of these variables are considered when selecting a carry gun. What people often fail to recognize is heft added by their holster. Depending on your pistol and holster combo, you may nearly double the thickness of your pistol if you're not careful when selecting your holster. That's where the Raven Vanguard 2 comes in. The VG2 is a spectacular example of what a concealed carry holster should be. Sparse, but totally functional and with no unnecessary bells or whistles. It adds no thickness to your set-up, while fulfilling the same objective as it's larger, more cumbersome relatives. When you holster your handgun in the VG2 for the first time, you'll sense some apprehension as you apply what feels to be too much force to get your gun to fully click into the guard. Have no fear though; it's got just enough tension to very securely hold onto the trigger guard without making drawing your pistol difficult. When drawn at full speed, it's surprisingly smooth. There is also nothing that actually "clips" into/behind the trigger guard (i.e. there is nothing inside the holster that will ever touch the trigger). From what I can tell, it looks like retention is solely maintained with inward pressure on the trigger guard. Speaking of which, retention is not adjustable--not that I'd want to mess with it anyways, given how perfectly it worked out of the box for me. The VG2 also allows you to rack the slide and operate the magazine release all while having the trigger completely covered, which I think is a bonus. Not to mention it weighs practically nothing. And because of its lack of mass, it makes sitting down more comfortable when appendix-carrying. It also looks to be reversible for all y'all left handers. Raven also includes a lanyard if you'd prefer to pocket carry à la the Raven VG1. Oh, and if you are wondering why this does not come with a Claw: it is because it works better without it. At least for my thin frame. I ordered the Claw separately, and actually found that my Glock prints more with it installed. Kept at the 12:30-1 o'clock position, the way the VG2 sits on my belt actually hugs the Glock to my waist very well. Packaging indicates that this holster should fit both the Glock 42 and 43. For those that prefer to buy American-made products, the packaging also indicates the VG2 is "made in USA with US materials on US tooling by US citizens." There are only a few detriments to this holster. You can't reholster your gun without removing the VG2 (which is easy to do). Also, as with pretty much all other holsters, the VG2 also does not seem to work reliably with thin pants like yoga pants or workout shorts; you really should be wearing a belt if you're carrying with the VG2. The last is durability. Given the fact that you cannot adjust retention, I am uncertain if the perfect level of retention on the out-of-the-box VG2 will persist in the next several years. The VG2 does not at all seem delicate, but all things wear over time. Overall, I can't really see why I would want any other holster if I am going to be wearing a belt. The VG2 is truly the vanguard of its class.
Review: Game-Changer - - Retention is good. It's hard to imagine this coming loose under any normal activity. Maybe leave your pistol at home if you're running an obstacle race. - Comfort is excellent. This is obviously going to vary based on your individual shape and choice of firearm. The holster is small, light and molded well with no sharp edges or extra material. If you can't appendix-carry comfortably, it won't be this holster's fault. - Adjustability is minimal, but adequate. There's only so much you can do without adding bulk or complexity. You can adjust the ride-height and cant just a bit. It was enough for me. Again, your body shape and choice of gun will determine exactly where you will need it to ride to be comfortable and accessible. This worked well for me. - Safety is more than adequate, if the user does their part. Seriously, you're sticking a gun down your pants. Do your homework and don't get lazy. First of all, don't re-holster your loaded gun while this holster is on your belt. It's a holster, not a home vasectomy kit. Take it off, snap it on the gun, make sure it's fully seated, then put the holster back on. It only take a few seconds. Second, check it over and try it out. Snap it on and make sure it fits your gun well. Wear it around for a day or two with a full mag (for the weight) but an empty chamber. Make sure this works well for your situation, your gun, your body, your movements. Mine fit me and my gun (43X) perfectly, but don't remove yourself from the gene pool because a plastic mold was off by a few thousandths of an inch. As for my review's title, why is this a "game-changer"? Because the best gun is the one you have with you. I own many fine handguns, but have only carried a few with any regularity. Most of my "better" handguns, which I prefer at the range, are not really practical for me to carry. If you're a big guy who always wears an overshirt or coat and are comfortable carrying around a full-sized 1911 cocked and locked, well, good for you. Because I prefer a small, light handgun for daily carry and like to carry appendix, I've spent the last several years carrying a Kel-Tec PF9. Small, light, comfortable and easy to carry with a factory belt-clip. And because of the gawd-awful trigger, I had no qualms about stuffing it down my pants sans holster. But if I'm honest, it's not a fun gun to shoot and I don't shoot it particularly well. In recent years Glock and some others have developed autos that fit the size, weight and general comfort requirements for me to carry, but full holsters ruined the experience for me and with the easily deployed trigger systems on these guns, I wan not about to stick them in my drawers uncovered. This holster completed the package. I now have a fast, smooth gun with a bit more capacity that I can actually shoot well tucked in my waist. Now we'll see if the Glock handles the years of sweat, grit and lint as well as the now retired Kel-Tec did.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works and wears as advertised
*by A***E on April 18, 2020*

I am using this for a Glock 48. I usually carry between to 4 and 6 o’clock position on my right side/small of back. So far I am very pleased. It secures the gun well and with the low rise adjustment sits exactly where I like it and does so comfortably. Conceals well, even under a t shirt. I prefer minimalist trigger guard holsters like this but got tired of the hassle of removing/securing a lanyard from my belt when taking it on and off. This solves that problem. Quick to put on and quick to put away. I would say it is an excellent holster if you prefer this type. I would buy it again and have purchased a second for my Sig P365. Great product as far as I am concerned..
