Kopari for the win!
I don't normally write product reviews, but after the sixth-month journey I've undergone in trying to find a new natural deodorant, I felt compelled to share what I've learned. After twenty-plus years of using Home Health's Herbal Magic, the product suddenly became impossible to find. My husband and I have both been using Herbal Magic since the early aughts. Luckily, we were able to stock up on the scent my husband uses so he has yet to go through the great testing of the new class of natural deodorants. Hopefully, my journey will help him when his time comes. Remembering what we went through the first time we switched to natural deodorants, I went ahead this time and ordered several of the current top-of-the-class brands: Lume, Tom's, Schmidts, MegaBabe, Native, Weleda, and Dove's 0%. I skipped some of the closer to $20 picks, in the the hopes I could find something somewhat reasonably priced. Herbal Magic was a roll-on, which was nice because there was no residue. It also lasted all day. I did not have to reapply during the day. This was all I was looking for: no residue and could get me through the day. Big ask, right? I don't sweat a great deal, but I guess I have a defiant funk, because this was, apparently, a tall order. I shower every other day, so I'm not going long stretches without a scrub either. I work an office job. It's not as if I'm out in the heat or even sweating most of the day. I haven't used an antiperspirant in two decades, so I was not looking to stop the sweat, just the stink! With natural deodorants though, it does all come down to your own body's special chemistry and mine is evidently a beast. Lume failed by mid-afternoon. I was sitting at my desk, sniffing and thinking, "Oh, god, is that me?" Toms and Dove 0% too. No luck there. The upside, I didn't notice any residue with these. Weleda roll-on won for the new residue category, but after a few days, I had to admit, it wasn't lasting all day either. Schmidts seemed to be able to hold its own against the stink, but the residue left marks on my shirts that my husband, fortunately, pointed out to me before I left the house. Disappointing! The two I used the longest were Megababe and Native. I actually got through an entire stick of Megababe early on and had sort-of resigned myself to having to scrub the white stains off my bras. I even reordered Megababe. But still, I had several other sticks I had ordered initially. I wanted to test them too, hoping I could find one to replace my beloved but long-lost Jasmine Herbal Magic. My teenage son had stolen the first stick of Native that I had ordered and it seemed to be defeating one of the greatest heavyweights of the BO world, teenage boy. Hopeful, I ordered another and tried it for a few weeks. Some days Native worked and others it didn't. Originally, I'd ordered the sensitive variety, so I tried the non-sensitive instead. Again, it was hit or miss, which was too bad, because I loved the scents that Native had to offer and didn't notice any white streaks on my clothes. Megababe seemed like it was my only choice, but defiant, I went back to the Amazon app and started searching again. I'll admit, my first search for Jasmine Herbal Magic, to see if, maybe, it had come back in stock in the last six months. Alas, it was nowhere to be found. (I tried to get it from the company itself, but had no luck). In reading the millionth article about other people's recommendations, I decided to try Kopari. I'll admit, it was a few bucks more than I wanted to spend. Most of the deodorants I initially tested were under $15 and some were considerably cheaper than that. But I was determined not to resign myself to something less than what I'd had for the last twenty years, which was a no-mark-leaving, stink-defying natural deodorant. Kopari arrived in June. When it did, I'll admit, my expectations were not high. I tested it on my forearm first, in a small patch test to make sure my skin didn't react, as I'd done with all the previous contenders. It was good to go there. What I first noticed from this was that Kopari goes on clear and it glides. Unlike Schmidts and Megababe, there was no white gunk gathering on the edge of the container rim or flaking off onto the bathroom floor. But the real test. Summer in the Midwest. It is hot. It is humid. I have weeds to pull in the yard and a son to schlep about town, instant sweat, air conditioning, more sweating, air conditioning. Unlike the other deodorants, which had all been tested in the winter and spring, Kopari was coming in during the first real heat wave of the year and... no smell. Not in the mid-afternoon, not at dinner time, not before bed even. I woke up and thought, it's been 24 hours since I applied, surely now... but no. I went ahead and reapplied anyway but with a smile on my face. Kopari was easy to apply, no mess on my clothes, and no reeking. After six smelly, disappointing months, it felt like one small miracle had happened. I wouldn't have to compromise. I had found a new deodorant that would get me through the day. Hallelujah! Thank you for small victories! Kopari did not appear in a lot of my initial searches for "best natural deodorant" and so, I felt compelled to write this review. It would be devastating to have to switch again because Kopari isn't getting the attention that all those other brands are and like my old deodorant, it became unavailable. Kopari is the only one that did everything I needed it to! And even though it's a few dollars more expensive than the others I tested, not having to reapply midday OR putting on a ton in the morning in the hopes that it will last, will surely save me money in the long run since I don't have to use as much as I would have with the others. It's also going to save me some time scrubbing white film off my bras. A note on scent: I chose the Beach scent. It is very light and has a slight aroma of coconut. After what I went through to find one that would just stop me from smelling like BO, I didn't really care what it smelled like as long as I wasn't gagging on my own odor by 2 p.m. That being said, their scent options are more limited than some of the others I tested. If you like to switch up your scents, or maybe hate Coconut, then this probably isn't going to be great for you. For me, though, Kopari is the clear winner. Thank you, Kopari, please never go away!

Just buy it, you won't regret it
I'm a 42 year old female in perimenopause and because of it, my body smell has changed against my will 😂 where I never had a under arm smell before, I do now. Nothing has worked, I thought I was just going to stink forever until I found this deodorant. Thank goodness! When I first opened it I thought it was a roll on but to my surprise it wasn't, which is a plus because roll ons tend to be sticky. This deodorant has a pleasant, not over powering smell, is not sticky, and works all day; I even waited to write this review after a full week of going to intense gym classes even and am pleased to report that it was still working after wearing all day & not reapplying and after my intense 60 minute classes. Best part is, it's all natural which is important to me.

Skeptical but pleasantly surprised
I was very skeptical this deodorant would work, but I really trusted all the positive reviews and I'm glad I did. I've tried many deodorants over the years with varying levels of success. I've always had to use men's deodoranta because women's generally would not cut it for me. In more recent years, I tested many natural deodorants, which was very difficult because I was allergic to many of them. I finally landed on one, and it worked well for a number of years, but recently it stopped working and I'd find myself having to reapply multiple times a day. I found this deodorant because it had such great reviews and figured I'd give it a try. I've been using it for several weeks and it's been absolutely amazing. I've really put it through its paces in testing it, and I've found myself not smelling bad after a day starting with a workout and consistent of multiple stressful meetings. It goes on really smooth, smells very nice, and didn't irritate my extremely sensitive skin. Very impressed and highly recommend!

Combats odors well, but irritates skin :(
Pros: •actually combats odor!!! •goes on clear and smooth •no residue on clothes •no clumping in hair •cooling •smell is not overpowering •lasts a long time (depending on how much you sweat) •don't need to use much product •doesn't get goopy when reapplying •feels like nothing once absorbed •price is worth relative to others Cons: •skin irritation!!! (red, itchy, flakey) •can become milky looking if you sweat before it dries down a bit, but that goes away when dry (This is not an antiperspirant, it doesn't affect sweat) I want to give this 5 stars so bad, but the skin irritation is taking away a star. This genuinely is the only deodorant I've found that checks almost all my boxes (besides irritation). I don't have sensitive skin and I've never reacted to any deodorant I've tried, but this one unfortunately gave me (and other reviewers) irritation. I'm assuming it's the charcoal that is causing sensitivity, which is unfortunate since that's one of the deodorizing ingredients. Charcoal is an ingredient that is common to cause reactions for people. Because of that, I wish there was a version of this that wasn't charcoal based, but I would think it maybe wouldn't work as well to combat odor. What I've been doing to try to prevent irritation is apply a hydrating serum to create a little barrier between my skin and the deodorant. It doesn't always do the trick, but it usually helps! It took me about a month of everyday use to start having reactions, so if you end up trying it out, make your judgement after a month or so~ I say it is definitely worth trying!

Best Deodorant Ever
I have been using this deodorant like 7 years and still going strong. I should be a spokesperson with how much I love this deodorant. It really does help with odor and sweat. I have tried many other brands and no luck. It is a little more expensive but now a days everything is. I love the smell as well. Kopari for the win! Please never stop making this please

Why
For reference, I live in the hot, humid deep South. I also work on my feet in a fast-paced environment in usually warm, humid indoor conditions and attend in-person college. I don't like to carry extra things with me when I'm at school and work from 8am-8pm, and that includes deodorant, so it must last me 12+ hours AT THE MINIMUM. I was looking for a replacement to my usual brand of deodorant (Ethique) for honestly only a couple small reasons: 1. Ethique deodorant works AMAZINGLY, but it comes in a cardboard tube that doesn't function smoothly (which is an upgrade from when it had no applicator). 2. The application of the product can be a bit dry at first, which isn't painful but does cause it to start crumbling when nearing the end of the tube. However, Kopari didn't live up to expectations and has honestly made me wonder why I'm even searching for a better deodorant when I've already found a nearly perfect one. For comparison: Application - Kopari applies SUPER smoothly, almost like a wet mineral-type deodorant, lol. I find I have to really rub it on, so it tends to stay slightly 'wet' for a minute, but soaks in eventually. - Ethique needs to 'warm up' to your skin before it starts to apply more smoothly. It definitely isn't the smoothest, but not too bad. It's almost like trying to deodorize with a bar of soap before it starts to glide. Scent - Kopari (charcoal scent) smells decent, at first. After a short while (maybe a few hours of wear), I find that it starts to smell strongly like I'm wearing old deodorant (like when I'd use regular non-natural types). Kinda makes me feel gross and I worry that others can smell it if I'm too close. I can also smell the awful scent on the armpit of my clothes. - Ethique has great scents that are quite mild. Unscented (I haven't tested), one more feminine (Lavender&Vanilla) and a Eucalyptus one that is good for anyone. However, both scented ones mostly fade throughout the day and you are left... scentless! Like, I don't smell bad at all, and I'm saying that as someone with STRONG armpit odor. Longevity - Kopari barely lasts a few hours, even if I'm just sitting around. It'll be a mix of that 'old deodorant' smell mixed with my own BO coming through. By night-time, my BO isn't full-force, but it's definitely there with barely any hint of the deodorant's scent. Even when I've tried to reapply when my BO comes back, it doesn't seem to effectively reapply. Very disappointing waste of $24 (I bought a 2-pack because I had high hopes based on the reviews). - Ethique seriously lasts. As I said previously, the scent fades to nothingness, but I don't start to smell myself in exchange. I can apply it at 7am Day 1, and feel confident enough to go another full day without reapplying it on Day 2 (I know, I can be a gross little gremlin but sometimes I plop my butt into bed after a full day and gotta do it all again the next day with no time to shower lol). Sometimes I will do a quick reapplication, but I NEVER smell as bad as I do when using Kopari. Last Remarks - Both Kopari and Ethique keep clothing mark-free. Kopari glides on clear, and Ethique may leave a hint of the deodorant's color on your skin during application, which quickly fades. I wonder if the thicker consistency of Ethique is what helps its longevity. - Neither of them irritate my skin, unlike a popular baking-soda based one I've tried in the past despite me not really having sensitive skin. - Both are similar prices. One tube/bar of Ethique can last me 4-6 months. I bought my last tube early October 2022, and just needed to reorder late March 2023. I apply it liberally. I've only owned Kopari for a week or two, but I feel there's no way it could last as long if I have to reapply it as often as it needs. Even after a day (or two) spent sweating, Ethique has reliably held up for multiple years, but Kopari performs worse than my regular Dove deodorant that I only keep around for times when I put off reordering for too long, lol. I planned to just go through the 2-pack that I ordered because that's $24 I would waste otherwise, but constantly smelling like either my strong BO or nasty old deodorant is both embarrassing and just a hassle to deal with. If you barely have any BO, I would go with a different scent than the Charcoal one, maybe?

Amazing! Use an antibacterial wash with it!
This paired with an antibacterial body wash on your arm pits is a GAME CHANGER. I am a VERY sweaty girl. It can be freezing outside and my arm pits are gonna sweat. I have tried EVERY kind of aluminum free deodorant. It doesn’t leave my pits wet and it smells so good. Using an antibacterial wash in your armpits helps kill odor causing bacteria and I swear that is KEY when using aluminum free deodorant!

The Couch Test Survivor: I tested 9 natural deodorants so you don't have to.
The Reality Check: I am one of those people who must wear deodorant. If I don't, I will start smelling within an hour of showering, even if I am just sitting on the couch. I spent months testing 9 aluminum-free brands in a professional office setting with 10k steps a day to find out which ones actually hold up and which ones are just a greasy mess. The Heavy Hitters (Top Tier) • Shwally Zinc and Charcoal: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Performance: The absolute gold standard for odor. This is the only one that gave me 24+ hours of protection. Experience: Since it is tallow-based, it feels grease-heavy when you first apply it, but it dries up shortly after. Even though it contains a form of baking soda, I had zero irritation. • The People’s Pharmacy MOM (Milk of Magnesia) Roll-on: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Performance: 12+ hours of solid protection with zero irritation. Experience: This was a huge surprise. It is completely non-greasy and dries quickly, leaving a subtle white dry residue (like baby powder) that feels very clean. The fragrance-free version is great, and the scented one is subtle. The Catch: Not widely available; you usually have to buy directly from their site, so shipping and handling fees will add to the cost. High Performance (4 Stars) • Salt and Stone (Bergamot and Hinoki): ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Performance: 12+ hours. The scent is the best of all products tested, but it is not subtle; it is strong and it will cling to your clothes all day. Experience: Very effective, but the grease feeling is real and the baking soda eventually caused significant redness for me. Excellent customer service though; they sent a sensitive version for free. • Gymati Fitness Spray: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Performance: 8+ hours of protection. Experience: A sporty scent that replaces the need for cologne. It is a quick-dry spray with no grease or stains. The Catch: Because it is a spray, it has the tallest container of the bunch. It takes up more space in a gym bag or desk drawer. The Middle Ground • Kokoa Botanics: ⭐⭐⭐ Performance: 8+ hours. Experience: This was the only plastic-free container I tested. However, it is very temperature dependent; if it is not warm enough, it crumbles in your armpit. The sweet scent transfers to your shirt and intensifies the longer you wear it. The Catch: Not widely available besides directly from their website, so shipping and handling will add to the cost. • Salt and Stone (Sensitive): ⭐⭐⭐ Performance: 6+ hours. Experience: Solved the irritation but the protection dropped. It feels grease-heavy on application and does not dry fast enough before putting a shirt on. Scent is more subtle than the original formula. The Low-Protection Group • Clearly FRESH Magnesium Roll-On: ⭐⭐ Experience: Initial protection decreases quickly through time. After 6 hours, it is like not having any deodorant on at all. It is not greasy and dries quickly, but it just doesn't last. • Kopari and Crystal Magnesium: ⭐⭐ Experience: Both smelled nice but were very greasy. They transferred all over my shirts and only lasted about 6 hours before the odor broke through. Final Verdict for the High-Odor Individual: 1. Best Overall Protection: Shwally (for the 24hr protection) 2. Best Scent: Salt and Stone (Original) 3. Best Budget and Feel: People's Pharmacy MOM (for the dry, baby-powder finish) 4. Best Spray: Gymati (if you have the extra room in your bag)

Holy Grail
Literally the only natural deodorant that works and isn’t all tacky and gross!! I hope they never stop selling it here, cause it’s the only way I can get it in Canada since Sephora stopped selling it!! And it smells sooooooo freaking GOOD!!

Great natural product
This natural deodorant becomes a bit ‘melted’ due to the coconut oil in it, it has a very nice feel to it. The smell is very pleasant and it isn’t overpowering. It’s a great product in a very nice packaging. It is baking soda free.
