Best COD game to date, IMHO.
Look, we all play COD for various reasons. Some like the campaigns, some like the multiplayer, and some like the zombies. I never really got into Zombies, and I've played a few campaigns. But the real gem here is the Multi-player aspect of the game. The Blackout version is tremendous. It's a huge map, with 100 players at a time, either solo play, or teams of 2 or 4. The map has multiple terrains, and lots of places to explore. The map changes where things are placed each time you drop in. It's a challenge to win, but after a few hundred rounds I have at least 10 wins and 50 or so top 5 games. You can be the best player and still lose. The replay value is very high. There are a lot of buildings in this game. There are some repetitive buildings, which I think devalues the game, but only slightly. The vastness of the map and terrains keeps things very interesting. Gameplay is good, without a lot of the glitches that tend to ruin things. Leveling up isnt super clear, characters aren't well developed, which is okay, but the game still gives some characters (in multiplayer, but not Blackout) advantages that aren't very clear. Weapons customization is weird and not intuitive like previous versions. Perks for updating gear are not well explained and it's a little bit of a guessing game. Weapons are good, actually, great. Variety is great and mechanics are fun. The game gives plenty of opportunity to engage with different weapons and platforms. Customization is still good. One of the new tricks with this game is that healing isnt automatic. You have to heal yourself through the use of med kids and bandages. I think this is a cool aspect of the game. One minor gripe: Updates take some time. The update in early March took some 2 hours to load. I have 80mb internet and it's pretty fast, but the update seems to take a while, granted they changed the entire map and added additional buildings. I bought this and it shipped very quickly.

Worth The Price, Depending On Who You’re Talking To
First off, I preordered BO4 fully aware that there was no campaign. I’ve only ever invested in the BO games for the online multiplayer. With that, you’ll hear zero complaints from me about the lack of campaign. BO4 is one of the best CODs to hit the console in a LONG time. Multiplayer is spot-on, zombies is ridiculously entertaining (even if it isn’t my go-to), and Blackout.... dear gosh.... that alone is worth the buy. Sure, you’ve got people complaining and saying “FORTNITE is free, so there’s no reason why—“ lemme stop you right there. You’re paying for the COD version of a Battle Royale. This isn’t Fortnite, and that’s a positive comparison on a NUMBER of levels. Fortnite’s free. Sure, that’s great, but there’s no denying that you’re paying for a high-quality Battle Royale experience with BO4 Blackout. If you’re into that sort of thing—or simply into intense online multiplayer—it’s worth every penny. I can’t get enough of it.

Revised review
Well can’t really say how the game is, start off with a 50GB download before it can be played. So after a few days I might be able to play it. Bunch of BS. Ok after getting it updated ( expect a 10-12 Gb every Monday) I will have to say the game is excellent. I have been playing video games for 40 years and this has to be one of the best. If you have played fortnite or similar it won’t take long to get use to it. I have never played a game like that and the learning curve is steep. You will probably not kill anything for a couple days. But once you get it down it’s a blast I haven’t even got into the zombies or multi player yet having too much fun playing blackout.

Love. It.
This is probably my favorite Call of Duty since Ghosts. I was never a huge fan of the futuristic flying jet packs and wall running of Advanced Warfare, Black Ops 3 and Infinite Warfare. WWII was refreshing in that regard, however, I really started to get burned out on WWII due to the really small maps, horrible rewards system and hokey costumes that you know never existed in the 1940s. Black Ops 4 is really refreshing. It's very fast paced and fluid. Even though there are no jet packs and wall running, nothing ever gets in your way. Getting around obstacles while shooting at the same time makes the game play super smooth. I really like the weapons (so far) and the graphics are really good. The user interface is a little confusing. I think video game companies in general could all benefit from having an actual UI designer on staff. As for the new Blackout game mode, maybe it's because I have never played any of those last man standing games like Fortnite, but I just don't do very well. It's like unless you get a decent gun within 15 seconds of landing on the ground, you're screwed. Also, the graphics in Blackout are terrible in comparison to normal multiplayer. I get it though, for a map that size they had to make compromises. Overall, I give Black Ops 4 a 9 out of 10.

Great game
Great game nice balance of futuristic / realistic game play. Simple game menu. 1. Multiplayer. Normal games team deathmatch s&d etc. It also has a heist mode. Definately my fav. The most level playing field. Everyone starts off with a handgun as you earn money you can purchase items for the remainder if the match. 2. Black out. This mode can be fun. The movement feels a bit jittery but nothing one cant get used to. Learn how to land fast to gain an advantage. 3. Zombies. Not my cup of tea so I cant be of much help in this department. All in all fun game. Black ops series is definately my favorite.

Call of Duty Renaissance
A new year a new Call of Duty is upon us. Where we leave the old school World War 2 setting for the near future while still being boots on the ground. Where in a series first Campaign is out and we get a new Battle Royale mode. Zombies and Multiplayer make their return to give you this annual installment. So where does this installment stand in the Call of Duty series does it take the series to a new high point or is it another miss in the franchise. Let’s find out shall we. Pros: Gameplay, Love it or hate the same tight gameplay of Call of Duty returns with a new series of tweaks to make it more team oriented. Specialist from Black Ops 3 return some literally the same. Health increased by 50 hp. Lastly there is there is specialist abilities tied to specific specialist all make an enjoyable gameplay Call of Duty experience. With all of that transferred more or less to the black out and Zombies. All on smooth 60 Frames Per Second that Call of Duty is known for. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it as Call of Duty is staying on Boots on the ground again so no wall jumping returns. Graphics, Freebie for most triple A games unless your Fallout 76. While not the best looking game ever the graphics are still looks great. Throughout Zombies and Multiplayer blackout will vary on your machine but using a pro it clutches it for me. No Campaign, some brave soul actually did it and decided that hey we don’t need a campaign. While it must be disappointing for all 3 people who play the campaign. I must applaud them as Black Ops 3 had the worse campaign of any Call of Duty game ever. In my circle of friends and associates I was the only one who ended up beating it. Not Good. So doing what needs to be done and axing the campaign is a positive in my book as it gets them to focus on. Content, The launch content of Blacks Ops 4 is pretty good 14 maps at launch with a battle royale and 3 zombies maps (4 with Black Ops Pass but well get to that later). Axing the campaign to focus on the multiplayer content the thing people actually care for is in hindsight smart. While it’s competition Battlefield V included a campaign it sucked and the multiplayer has no content. Call of Duty must be applauded for giving its player a complete package at launch and as a live service more stuff is coming in and changing the game with more content to come keeping the game alive. Lore, while there is no campaign there is lore of the black ops series. With Specialist HQ a mode where you can test at all the new specialist and even see their own video. At first glance it looks Tom Clancy's Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4. But there is a hidden story that ties to the events of Black Ops 1&2. Call of Duty has a lot of Lore fans and this is a welcome addition that ties in the Black Ops universe with the Multiplayer and Blackout. Better than Blacks Ops 3 train go boom campaign. Zombies, Treyarch’s Zombies return the original studio to do zombies back at world at war 10 years ago and they never stop being the best call of duty zombies developers. Some people might only be interested in the Zombies mode. We get the returning Aether Story and a brand new story and characters the biggest zombies launch with three maps. Four with the Black Ops Pass. It’s not for everyone solo players might have trouble with the learning curve of all the mechanics and solving the easter eggs. But if you have a buddy or two you can’t go wrong with Zombies. I had an absolute blast playing with my friends and solving the easter eggs. Treyarch has the best zombies hands down Black Ops 4 is no exception. Blackout, The mode that most of the development time went into. Chasing the trends with popular games like Pubg and Fortnite. But it’s actually really well made. Call of Duty manage to transfer there fast paced gameplay in a BR mode. This hands down the best first person Battle Royale game on consoles period. Call of Duty Black Out has 100 players dropping in a map from various multiplayer and zombie maps and it just works for me. There have been people running into issues but lucky in my experience nothing but smooth sailing. You can unlock various black ops characters with challenges. The mode is a lot of fun and it went from being scorned as a cheap cash grab to being the best thing Call of Duty has done since Black Ops 2. Great job Treyarch for beating the skeptics. However the game is not perfect. Cons: Same CoD Same problems, This is fundamentally still a Call of Duty game and as a result we get the same problems that have plagued the series for years. Spawn points they are as inconsistent as ever. Drop Shotting back and still annoying as ever and balancing can never get right they either nerf something to hard or buff it and even a month post launch its not fixed and will probably never be fixed as it is just a part of the Call of Duty engine so unless they get rid of it which they won’t there not going away it a free criticism of the franchise. Black Ops Pass, In a dumb move Call of Duty brings back the concept of paid map packs. When everyone is moving away from this model in favor of free maps. Call of Duty stubbornly clings on to this despite almost all their competitors moving away from this and keeping the community more united and in a better state than fractured. They are offering free maps for everyone but this doesn’t justify the black ops pass especially when they are over charging for cosmetics. Black Market, I will like to preface and say it’s better than the supply drops system of the call of duties of before (looking at you especially Black Ops 3) but the system still sucks. Everything is either overpriced or a long grind to live up this is nothing like the fortnite system they tired to copy it’s worse. They clearly incentivise to purchase more call of duty points and while that was in all honest expected at least put all the good stuff up front ready to purchase not I have to grind to reach tier 50 or something or I can spend 100 dollars to unlock everything I want. Guns aren’t subject to this yet. But as the history of Call of Duty tells us they will absolutely do it. They are already selling pre-order gun variants as dlc Terrible, Greedy, and inefficient. Maps, they better than Call of Duty World War 2 but that’s a low bar. My main issue with the maps is there is a heavy reliance on the classic maps of Call of Duty black ops 1&2. There good maps but they could also try to make better maps or make there own classics. Even at the time of this review they released two new free maps Firing Range nighttime and Nuketown Russian edition. Of course the new maps are borders between okay and bad so the reliance of classic maps is a necessary evil of sorts. Still relying on past games can only get you so far. In conclusion, with admittedly low expectations Call of Duty Black Ops 4 manages to be one of the biggest surprises of the 2018 hands down. Call of Duty haters will always hate the game no matter what, call of duty can cure cancer and they will still hate the game. This isn’t the game for you. But for the rest of the people who are either indifferent or fans of Call of Duty this is a really great game by far one of the better Call of Duties. Not in the same level of the classics of course but still one of the better ones we have recently. The game is a live service so everything I just said is subject to change it can become even better or nosedive off a cliff. Finally in the battle of Call of Duty vs Battlefield it’s not even close this year. Call of Duty Black Ops 4 beats Battlefield V no contest this year Call of Duty wins. Welcome back Call of Duty.

Don’t let the ratings sway you
This game has bad ratings for no reason. The game obviously has some balancing to be done. Every call of duty has needed that from day one and usually will only take a few weeks to completely fix. There is tons of content in this call of duty from day one. More than 10 multiplayer maps including old and new. 3 zombie maps and 2 modes along with a create a class feature which adds a lot of strategy and replay ability. The new blackout mode which is very balanced and with tons of variety. This is more content than any call of duty has included so I don’t understand why this is such a poorly rated game. Most reviews complain about the difficulty of the multiplayer which isn’t the doing of the game they bought that is purely because of the skill base between players not the game itself. Don’t be swayed by other reviewers talking about those things
