It sucked up the debris wonderfully. Also, it is so easy to assemble just to make sure with the ball that you squeeze, you have it in the tube the right way or it will be a pain to get out but that was my fault for not reading the instructions correctly. The clip worked great against my tank and the 5FT – S was perfect for my size aquarium. One more thing for the people that have live plants.
