A hit with the family, complex appliance, but worth it once you figure it out
I picked up the Ninja CREAMi Scoop and Swirl Ice Cream Maker NC701 on a bit of a whim for our family. We deal with multiple food allergies, so buying store ice cream that works for everyone is nearly impossible. The ability to fully control ingredients like dairy-free milk, low sugar options, or nut-free recipes is what pushed me to try it. This is the more deluxe version with both scoop and soft serve capability, and it definitely feels like a premium kitchen appliance. From a build quality and appearance standpoint, it is substantial. This is not a small countertop gadget. It is tall, fairly heavy, and takes up serious space. It will not fit under most standard upper cabinets, so plan accordingly. We ended up buying a separate baker’s rack to house this and our Ninja Slushi machine. The included 2-in-1 pints, lids, paddle, and swirl press feel sturdy and are dishwasher safe, which helps with usability and cleanup. Using the machine is not trivial at first. There is a learning curve. The process starts by preparing your recipe directly in the clear pint containers. The most important detail is making sure the containers freeze completely level. Timing needs to be correct for adequate freezing. If the mixture freezes at an angle, the chopping and blending mechanism will struggle to operate or process correctly. After freezing for about 24 hours, you install the blade lid, lock the container into the machine, and select one of the 13 programs. There are dedicated soft serve modes, fruit whip, frozen yogurt, custard, and more. We typically use coconut or oat milk, which freezes harder than traditional dairy. Because of that, we often have to run the blend cycle multiple times to achieve a smooth, soft-serve consistency. That is one of the nuances you only learn by doing. Once the texture is right, you move the container to the soft serve side, install the swirl press, and dispense into a cone or bowl. It is a multi-step workflow, and good results depend on understanding how each phase works. If something is off, it usually comes down to leveling in the freezer, recipe ratios, or needing an extra spin. Performance is impressive once dialed in. The Creamify technology really does transform a solid frozen block into a creamy texture. The ability to customize mix-ins and tailor recipes for dietary needs adds real value. However, it is loud. Very loud. During the chopping and spinning phase, the noise level is intense. It is not something you want running constantly, and it could easily be disruptive and hurt ears in a small kitchen. Another small limitation is the dispensing phase. When using the soft serve function, it does not fully clear the entire pint. There is usually a noticeable amount left in the bottom. It is easy enough to scoop out with a spoon, but it feels like an area that could be improved in future designs. In terms of value, this is clearly a luxury appliance. It is not essential, and it is not small. But if you have dietary restrictions, want full control over ingredients, or enjoy experimenting with frozen desserts, it offers strong performance and flexibility. It does not replace a commercial soft serve machine, but for home use, it delivers impressive results. Overall, I recommend the Ninja CREAMi Scoop and Swirl if you are willing to learn the process and have the space for it. It’s pretty expensive, but I believe it adds substantial value for families with allergies or if you just love ice cream. It takes patience at first, and there are nuances to master, but once you understand how it works, it produces high-quality frozen treats tailored exactly to your needs.

Fantastic Machine for Ice Cream Lovers!
We previously had the Ninja Creami, but this machine takes things to the next level — who doesn’t love swirl soft serve ice cream? It is a bit loud during operation, so headphones might come in handy, but the results are absolutely worth it. The texture is smooth, creamy, and truly restaurant-quality. I love the versatility of this machine — it’s perfect for making soft serve, milkshakes, gelato, or sorbet. It’s also a fun and delicious way to add variety to protein shakes or healthier frozen treats. Overall, a great investment for anyone who enjoys customizing their desserts at home. Highly recommend!

Excellent and Fun Machine
Awesome machine! We love it!!!! One container fills about 6 regular sized cake cones. My recipe for chocolate soft serve (What we use): 2/3 cups (nonGMO) pure cane sugar 1/4 tsp Xanthan Gum 1-1/2 TBSP Nestle Cocoa Powder 1/8 tsp salt or less (a pinch) Mix together dry ingredients in glass bowl. Add 1/4 cup Heavy Cream and 3/4 cup Half n Half Use whisk to mix carefully and completely. Put glass bowl in microwave for 30 seconds, then take out of microwave and whisk this base mixture again until sugar granules are blended Add 1 more cup of Half n Half and stir with whisk until completely blended. Be sure you have closed your Ninja churning container and installed your selected nozzle shape on it, then pour the ice cream batter into your container to the Fill Line. If you need more Half n Half, add it and whisk lightly to finish. Cover with container top and Freeze 24 hours on a level shelf. Take out next day and follow machine directions for soft serve. We have used the frozen, unchurned ice cream up to a week after preparation and freezing. Enjoy! We love the easy clean up. Get a small brush cleaner and put a little soap on it. Clean the nozzle area and the inside of the container. Take the softserve pressure lid apart and use the gentle bristles with soap and water to clean all parts. On the main churning lid, remove blade over sink, clean with soap and water. If you let water run into the top opening on the blade, the water will squirt out the side, cleaning it more thoroughly. Clean the outside blade lid / churning lid and shake excess water off over sink. Put in dish drainer to dry. We do not put any of our Ninja Ice Cream parts into the Dishwasher. The containers can warp in the microwave, so we suggest you use that technique to soften ice cream to eat. Hope this helps.

Best thing in my kitchen!!
I am obsessed and in love with my Ninja CREAMi. I love Ninja as a brand and have quite a few of their products already, but this is by far my most used. I make ice cream with this almost daily. I love how healthy the recipes are, since I can control any sugar, salt, fat, or other content. I make high protein ice creams with my favorite powders, add a bit of almond milk, vanilla, and pudding mix and freeze overnight. The texture is amazing, so soft when using the ice cream function. Takes about 5 minutes to mix, but it's perfect. I've been using my machine for almost 6 months daily and it's incredibly durable. Love it!!!

Pretty decent for making frozen treats at home
Sometimes, i find that the Ninja CREAMi works well for quick desserts like milkshakes and sorbet when i want something sweet after dinner. the setup is pretty straightforward and it’s handy to have the handle and two sizable pints included. however, it can be a little noisy, and i’ve noticed that certain textures don’t turn out as smooth as i hoped. still, it’s nice to have multiple options with its 13-in-1 programs. overall, it’s a handy gadget, but i wouldn’t say it’s perfect for every type of frozen treat.

Great gift idea
Bought this for my daughter and her college roommates for Valentine’s Day. They love that they can make small batches in their favorite flavors! Very good quality and easy to use.

Frozen yogurt turns out yummy
This turns yogurt into a dreamy lowcarb/sugar-free dessert. We make several varieties of yogurt (reuteri, gasseri, subtilis, lacto bacillus. To sweetener I mix in, allulose, erythritol, tagatose, monk fruit, flavoring (fruit, cocoa, extracts) and a pinch of xanthan gum. Every night. Used to just eat it as pudding, now it's a frozen treat. The unit is easy to operate, the instructions are good, it's easy to clean. We tend not to bother with the soft serve dispenser, but rather just scoop out the frozen yogurt. It is noisy, registering 95 db so I turn it on and let it process for the 5 minutes it takes while i go clean up dinner dishes.

Great Concept, But a Few Annoyances
I was really excited to try the Ninja Creami Swirl, and I have to say, it does what it promises: it makes genuinely good ice cream. It's been a fantastic way to turn my protein shakes into a much more enjoyable treat. The Good: The core function is great. The ice cream texture is impressive, although I found that adding a splash of milk to the top of the frozen pint before spinning helps the machine get started and results in a smoother consistency. I also appreciate the design touch of the pint clicking securely into place; it's a small but satisfying detail that lets you know it's ready. The Not-So-Good: Unfortunately, my experience came with a few frustrations. First, this machine is LOUD. It's definitely something to be aware of if you have a small living space or sensitive ears. I also frequently had to run the cycle twice to get the right texture, which adds to the noise and time. There were also some operational quirks. On several occasions, the machine just wouldn't start, forcing me to take the pint out and reseat it. I also noticed the blades would get a strange oily residue on them, and I couldn't figure out why. Sizing and Final Thoughts: My biggest disappointment was with the 'Swirl' version itself. The portion size for the ice cream feels too small to justify the feature. If I were to buy one again, I would skip the Swirl and go for either the standard model or upgrade to the Deluxe for the larger pint capacity. Ultimately, I ended up returning the unit because it arrived with a broken pint. Combined with the other small issues, I decided not to get a replacement just yet. It's a really good product in concept, but the execution has some flaws that made it not the right fit for me.
